I got it off BT this morning, automatically, as I was leaving for work. The .AVI was 'corrupt' though, so not sure if it will play via my STB. Perhaps there's a reseed already.

I was half way through tonights episode of Top Gear and nearly lost it. Most of the segments were boring and useless.
I thought the show was about cars? All they seemed to be doing was telling lame rehearsed jokes and forcing the audience to applaud. I rated the review on the SL63 AMG... That car is amazing!!! |

As much as I think the show sucks compared to the UK version, it's not that bad considering there is no other car show on Australian TV that I know of. Lame jokes though... Charlie annoys the crap out of me, he is the worst...

Agree with you there. It is a pale imitation of the UK version. They try to hard to mimic it rather than find their own way. I know it is a mixed entertainment show but they would be better of focusing on the cars and less on trying to be funny...cause they ain't!

Tonights episode showed us more of an insight into the lives of the dull and boring presenters rather than the performance cars we are so keen to see.
What a joke, seriously. |

hmmmm, I just watched half of last night's UK TG, then the OZ show - then just finished the the last half of the UK episode.
It REALLY shows how lame the OZ version is. The UK show had laughs galore - trucks, brick walls, pianos and porn and all. The Oz show just seemed to drag on ..... thank god for torrrentzzz Monday nights will have proper TG again. |

I only watched bits of it, but I can't understand why they don't review the damned cars more and spend less time up each others backsides (figuratively spoeaking) on a dirt track going up to the Gulf and 'lovely' camera angles and artsy scenic shots of a $400K Mercedes when they could just say whether they like the damn things or not.
The torrent's just about to finish downloading, guess what I'll be watching all the way through soon? I don't even bother recording TG Oz anymore. Shame guys, you could have been so good. Stop trying so hard to be funny and a mirror image of the Poms. You're not - to both points. "You can have a dog, or a car that can be driven by one" - Classic TG UK. One segment watched and I have to agree with grunt above...

Just finished watching. I didn't think this episode was toooo bad. There were some amusing moments with the 4wds.
Of course TG UK was better though... nearly wet myself when that car came punching out the back of Hammond's truck...

We seriously have to lay some blame on the Australian writers. In the end the presenters are reading a script that was written for them.
Yes - there is scope to embellish, but only to a certain degree. At a recent TG Oz taping I went to, Steve Pizzati was the only presenter that would alter the delivery of his lines between takes - effectively adding his own style. A little more disturbing was his extremely frequent use of the F word to the audience, the minute each take was over.... albeit in an endearing context. |

And, funnily enough (or maybe not), he's the only one that I like. The Hamster-wannabe gets on my nerves and the Clarkson-wannabe just doesn't do it for me and reminds me more of May.

I agree with you there. Steve Pizzati is the only half-decent presenter and the other 2 are just disappointing. The guy with the Mo-stash seems as though he has no previous experience driving cars before he started with Top Gear making me discredit any opinion he voices about any of the cars.

If you have a look in the season intro for TG UK on S12E01 it looks like there's a shootout between the M3 and the ISF.
That should be interesting - even though I'd never buy a Lexus over an M3!

Thank goodness Top Gear UK is back...and with the usual flair! Bloody funny episode - loved the review of the GT2...priceless. Haven't seen TGA from this week yet...doesn't sound like i'm missing out on much.

I am watching the UK first episode of series 12. I could not stop laughing.
The quality is night and day. Now I am not going to watch that next Monday. I will download that when I have nothing to use that 700Mb download allowance.

I enjoyed this episode a lot. Some of the comments above seem to miss a few points.
Has Warren Brown got driving experience? Have any of you seen Peking to Paris that was on ABC? He and a few others drove cars as the title suggests. They weren't made in this century, and in fact only just made it into the last one. Make the effort and check it out. Do you really think TG UK is informative? It's entertainment. Remember the M3 Vs Audi RS Vs whatever that Merc was. All through you would think Jeremy hated the M3 if you thought it was informative. Only at the very end he says 'what a masterpiece'. I still love it and could probably repeat it all verbatim. Seeing the Lexus coated in dust on the inside- that was informative- and unbelievable. And I got to see some driving I would like to do but probably never will. To my eye, the artsy camera angles on the Merc were exactly the same as what UK does. I've grown accustomed to it on both shows. Give TG Aus the experience, writers and budget of TG UK. Rant over. I'm looking forward to what could happen when Jeremy and Hamster are out here. Will they do something together with TG Aus? |

I have to download the episode tonight as my hard drive recorder failed when recording TG last night. I did see the start of the episode though and saw the Lexus. I am wondering if one of the guys live in my building! I saw a gold Lexus a couple of months ago all covered in dust and mud (including roof) and the only part not covered was where the wiper has wiped it. I was puzzled how anyone would drive a $150k car like that. Perhaps it's because Charlie lives here? He is a Melbournian? Anyone knows?

yes the latest TG UK was a cracker, JC doesn't like 911's, the truck part was pretty hard core. Makes TGA look like amateur hour, I hadn't updated my daylight saving setup to auto on the beyonwiz and my recording just showed the ending. Didn't even care in the end. How good did the Lambo sound..
