Don't Ever Bring Your 1er's to Discount Tire!!!
I recently bought a very mint and well taken care of 2011 135i. There's nothing wrong with it and it's as new as it can be. I'm extremely happy with my purchase. However, the owner had Michelin PSS installed in discount tire and look at what they did to ALL 4 wheels.
Wheel 1: Wheel 2: Wheel 3: Wheel 4: Has anyone experienced this when they had discount tire replace your tires? IMO, this is completely unacceptable. I also have 2 coworkers experience the same thing. But they complained when they picked up their cars and had their wheels repaired. It just seems that they want you in and out as fast as possible and don't take good care of the wheels.

Yes, each center is different but I've had a similar experience to just one wheel. After complaining to the manager, they paid to get it repaired. Never going back to them again.

What's sad is that the damage is to all 4 wheels. Not just 1 but ALL 4... I'm just a little disgusted.

Discount Tire did a great job with my wheels and tires. It's really not rocket science. Sorry the one near you screwed it up.

Any tire mounting is a crap shoot, unless you know the person, you never know what you're gonna get, regardless of the place you take it too.

IMO, you really have to not care to do this type of damage.

Does it depend on the type of equipment being used? Watched my RFT get fixed with a plug and patch and when they broke the tire off the wheel, the machine never got within 2 inches of the rim only compressed the tire.

It's supposed to be more difficult with low profile tires, and some places won't do them. Looks like OP had 40 series tires on his wheels. I forget what the stock RFT's are - maybe 45-50?

It's stock tire sizes so 215/40/18 F and 245/35/18 R. The original RFT tires were replaced to the same spec PSS.

Sorry to see that Discount Tire scuffed all four wheels. Results really do vary by location, but my understanding is that they generally tend to be customer focused. I would take your car back there and show them the mounting damage. They may offer to refinish the wheels for you and repair the rash.

I had 1 wheel damaged at discount tire. Next time they didn't tighten all valve stem caps and 2 fell off on the way home. No compensation for either (even though caps are $15)
Took wife's car there and it drove fine. After 4 new tires it pulled to the right quite a bit. Had alignment checked and it was fine. They still blamed they alignment. I will be finding a new tire place now even though I used discount tire for many many years before this. |

I just bought some Michelin PSS's this weekend at a local Discount Tire. I warned the guy that took the initial order, and then later that afternoon (once the tires got there from the warehouse) I warned the guy that took my keys, and as I walked out to meet the wife for dinner, I warned the guy who was in the car that it was perfect when I dropped it off and I want them to keep it that way.
I'll have to say, when I got it back there was not a scratch on it. They walked me out to the car so I could look it over, and they did a great job. I have used these guys many times with no issues in the past, but after this post, I went that extra mile to make sure they got it. I'm happy that they did. |

They ruined a RFT tire and gouged the rim in the process for me.
After fixin a leak (Nail) the first time, i went home and and a couple hours later the tire pressure lite came back on..WTF? Took it back to discover they tore a small part of the bead completely off on the first job. They had no RFT's in stock and it would days to get in so they reimbursed me for a stock tire available at BMW. It was over 300 bucks I think. They also repaired the rim but the paint just doesnt match the finish on the 135 M sport wheels. The hard rubber makes RF's hard to work with supposedly...still a bunch of idiots I say with no attention to detail

I know of 4 different cars from 3 different people from 3 different discount tire shops here in AZ. Some of them didn't scuff up as much as 4 wheels but that says a lot. If you still want to bring it to Discount then please go ahead and do so.
I just think that they don't really take care of your wheels when changing tires. IMO, all they care about is getting you in and out as fast as possible. Maybe they'll take extra care when you tell them to but they should be doing it all the time.

I dismount and mount tires pretty regularly. These runflats are no picnic, for sure. Mounting them isn't terrible, it's getting them off. Only plastic touches the rim when I do them. They're tricky though.

That is a shame mate. I can see perhaps making a mistake on one wheel, but all four? Good thing is that it doesn't look too deep. When I bought my X5 used, one of my rear wheels had some curb rash. I had it repair for $40 cash, looks great again. You really have to know what you're looking for to see where it was repaired.

I had my wheels scuffed by a Discount Tire in San Antonio, they said they would repair it, but I honestly didn't care because it was only 1 wheel and I was going to plastidip them Black anyway.
When I got a new set of wheels I told 2 different guys mounting my tires to please be careful, and they did a great job. I was able to see them mounting the tires through the window at Discount Tire that overlooks the garage area. They took their time and no scuffs were on my new wheels. |
