CIAS Pics

Here are my pics from the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto. Nothing outstanding, but more pics nonetheless...

135i was M Sport package in AW with red leather and poplar grey trim. 128i was equipped with premium package, but I'm not sure which blue that is under the Efficient Dynamics decals.

Sorry to the Cab fans. I only snapped a couple of crappy shots not worth posting.

Comments I heard while gawking were generally positive. Some thought is was too small, but there were a few 6-footers that seemed really interested.

My impressions from just sitting in them are very positive. The M Sport steering wheel is beautiful and chunky, although the standard wheel in the 128i was also very satisfying. I'm not a big guy, only 5'6", so the cockpit was very comfortable (see 5th pic). Having sat in both the sport and regular seats, the sport seats are a must for me. The centre stack is perfect and I really like the stereo display. The stereo had power in all three models and it sounded much better than expected for stock. The trunk was as generous as the reviewers have said - it would easily fit two golf bags. Rear seats are tight with a six+-footer in the front, but very serviceable for small kids. With someone of average size or smaller in the front they are fine for an adult. But the rear seats in the cabriolet look like cruel and unusual punishement for anyone bigger than a toddler.

Overall, seeing the 1er in person confirmed it as my top pic for my next car.

Thanks for the pics and comments, much appreciated.

How did you feel about the red leather look against the white? Did it get positive comments?

Thanks again

Good pics!! There seemed to be a large crowd around the 135i. Not anywhere near as much interest in the 128i (or was it just a crowded show??).

Thanks!

AW looks so nice~ Thanks for posting all those photos. I like the red interior but it does not come in the "free" leatherette. =/

Pic #2 really makes the car look like the pocket rocket it is. How many of us are gonna' get hurt in this thing? Thanks for the report.

Thanks for the comments. I was really wondering what the back seat would be like for my 6 yr/old and 2 yr/old. Does Coral really look that bright as it does in some of those pictures?

Here's a pic of the backseat in the 'vert (the rear seat in the convertible is narrower than the coupe):

The red leather and white combo is not for me. I like each of them individually, though. AW is best matched with either black or terra interior. Coral red is best against black or SGM, IMO. I was also happy to note that the coral red leather is more subdued in person than in some of the photos.

Much more interest in the 135i than in the 128i. Having the decals on the 128i made it less attractive. But the 1er had the biggest crowd in the BMW section, along with the X6.

It should be fine, really. Unless you are 6'4" and need to crank the front seat right back. I'm in the same boat with a newborn and a 4-year-old.

Hard as I may try I just can't warm up to that red interior.

I just got back from CIAS and it was way too packed to get any good pics.

I sat in the 135i and to my surprise, it wasn't very cramped. I'm 5'8" and when I sat in the back and some 5'5" guy sat in the front, the seat just managed to touch my pants but didn't touch my legs. The seats were stiff but supportive.
