I've pulled mine out to clean them, but didn't look down underneath it, so I'm not sure what the tiny hole looks like. What about a shop vac and the crevice tool?

I have found that a small shop-vac works great. You can get them at Walmart for $25-30. The baskets dont have to be removed so there is no spillage of leafs, ect. Also works great on the interior to.
