Fuel consumption 125i

Yes, I know there are other threads out there on the fuel consumption topic, but I thought I'd report in on my own country driving experiences. We drove from Brisbane to Bowral to visit my daughter and her family. We took the New England Highway to Singleton, then the GPS directed us over Putty Road down through the Yenglo national park. Great twisties, BTW. Lots of motorbikes, but little traffic otherwise.

Because of a combination of speed cameras and traffic controls, adhering fairly closely to speed limits was more or less mandatory, so lots of cruise control driving.

I reset the computer at the turn off to the Cunningham Highway at Ipswich to get an accurate idea of fuel consumption under pure highway driving conditions. At over 8000km on the clock, the car is run in now. Anyway, we recorded 7.0L/100km for the trip of around 1000km. I'm really impressed, and I can't praise the N52 motor enough.

That's very impressive. FYI, the best I've seen out of my 135i Coupe is 9.0L/100km with similar driving conditions.

BTW, the computer fuel consumption reading is actually extremely accurate. In my experience, it is within +/-0.1 of the correct value at least half the time.

I think that 9.0 for a 135i is pretty impressive too. Good to know about the accuracy of the fuel comsumption figure. I have pretty good agreement with what I calculate from filling the tank from the last km reading.

For pure highway driving I'm running mid-7's in my 135i. At the end of a tank I'm generally around 10.5.

bimmerle, good to see you got a decent average on highways. my current average with my 125 is sitting on about 11.6-11.7 but it is almost all suburban/city driving and close to no highway driving.
i'll be heading up to kyneton and shepp for a few weeks and will report back on my consumption then.
