1ers represent at Milwaukee autocross
Four turbos, surrounded by two 1ers, were spooled up in Milwaukee this Sunday. Myself and forum member Ruffstik attended the WAI (Wisconsin autocrossers inc.) autocross yesterday. It was in the giant parking lot next to Miller Park (where the Milwaukee Brewers play). Not only did we represent the one series, but we both finished in the top ten of the Rear wheel drive (street tire) category of over 30 entrants. The results (pax corrected) are on their website, and show the quality of competition including the three M3's in places 14,19, & 21. Not only that, but this was only my second try at autocrossing, and it was Ruffstik's first time ever! Plus, he's the one with the trophy because he came in fifth place using his mad driving skills, while I only got eighth (no trophy for me). My SMG 135 vert was flying number 135 for obvious reasons, while Ruffstik's black 135 coupe sported 54 for slightly less obvious reasons (present company excluded).
My lovely sister lent me her fancy digital SLR camera so Ruffstick and I had a chance to take some photos of eachothers runs. Here's a couple of 'em. About $40 for a ALL day event, you cannot beat the value for this kind of fun. I reccomend it highly. The only thing you need is a helmet (most mototcycle helmets are fine) and to do some research online (the SCCA calls it "Solo II", so Google that too.) There is another one in the Miller Park parking lot next Sunday, This time it's put on by the Milwaukee SCCA (but I'm told it is basicly the same people, and that it operates almost identically). I'm not sure if I'll be there, but I may. |

Keep posting these. We need more 1ers doing this type of thing
<Removed stupid, incorrect comment about the number of runs. It distracted from the point of the thread.> Last edited by lib; 05-18-2009 at 09:27 PM.. |

There were six runs not three, and enough people (123 entrants) so that we only had to work during one heat (of 4). I'm not sure about course size, but only the very fastest cars broke one minute. I'd love to only pay $20, but the $40 I payed as a non member who registered on line, was well worth it. Plus they had fun runs afterward for a buck each, if you wanted to.

I guess we're just spoiled here. I didn't intend to derail the thread.
To keep the OP bumped, I found a few pictures from the San Marcos event. They're not worth their own thread and I'd like to keep the OP bumped so more people will do this with their 1's. Sadly there aren't enough 1's down here yet http://www.axwaresystems.com/gallery...g2_itemId=3323 Last edited by lib; 05-18-2009 at 09:50 PM.. |
