The need to drive a bit more carefully in the 1M?

For all of us who are Buying, not leasing our 1M's.

While thinking about Insurance rates for the 1M I realized that if any of these cars get wrecked to the point of being Totaled out a replacement 1M will be out of the question.

Due to the limited number of 1M's it's a one time buy only. Even though my Insurance Company will replace a Totaled car during the first year of ownership with a brand new same make car this won't be an option with the 1M. This issue isn't limited to just the US but all markets of the 1M, i.e. the UK's limit of 450 cars etc.

Be safe out there

Yes, we had that same thought when we were in a parking lot and some old person almost backed right into us. If I hadn't seen her and honked we would have had a really big side impact that would have made me not want the car anymore. So, yes please be safe out there especially in the parking lot where no one pays attention anymore

For sure this thought has crossed my mind a number of times already...if it weren't for my lightning quick reflexes she would have already been toast more than once thanks to drivers with their heads up their asses. I guess BSM is too stealthy for it's own good.

Given the time it took for the 1M to arrive after the introduction of the 1 series, I would say 2-4 years.

While it would suck to lose the car in an accident, rememebr it's only a car. BMW will produce something else that will catch your fancy. If I lost the 1M in an accident, I'd just wait for an M2.

The M2 will be the successor to the 1M however:

The new F20 1 Series, or 2 Series as it may become is slated to be a larger car then the current 1 Series. Same thing with the new F30 3 Series including the next M3. BMW like all other auto makers just can't keep from making each new model larger in size.

This size increase plus the Limited US Imports of the 1M, approx 800 units make the 1M well worth keeping long term. At least for me it does.
