Very sad indeed, poor dog... The car does look quite fixable though?

yeah, that sucks but definitely fixable...not like a moose or something that our northern brothers in Canada or Scandinavia get hit with. GLWFix

Yes a moose is not fun to crash with. They can weigh 600-800kg.

Share your pain both for the car and the dog. It do looks fairly simple to fix to mint conditions though. That is the positive thing.

Sorry to hear about the mishap.

At first glance no structural damage to your 1M. Can be repaired in mint condition. Don't worry.

I'm interested in a little more detail of how the car and the dog contacted each other. Was it the typical "ran out in front and I couldn't stop"? I told each of my kids that in these situations braking is essentially always a good thing to do but evasive manuvers may or may not be. I've heard of too many vehicles who hit a tree or something trying to dodge an animal with serious injuries or even death to the people involved.

I had to employ my strategy once, unfortunately. A dog was messing around on the side of a small highway. I was watching it as I approached and I slowed some. It had not gone onto the road surface, however. Just as I got there, it ran in front of my rental car. I don't think there was anything I could have done but I braked and did not dive for the ditch. My customer had an individual killed on the same road when he drove into the ditch. I felt really bad about hitting the dog but, again, I don't think I could have prevented it. I had a passenger who agreed with my assessment - and noticed my discomfort.

I agree, these are sad situations. Sadder for the dog, obviously, but disappointing when you have a nice new car damaged too (fortunately mine was in a rental and it was not siginficantly damaged).

Thats pics very bad with the dog and very sad i think you should take that down

But i got in a tiny accident a couple months back with my 1m. It will be alright . Will cost some $ but it will be fixed to brand new. It will just take time hurry and order parts . The headlights and bumper/ fender are all exclusive to the car so it will take a while to get those parts

When you are more upset about your bumper than someone's dog on the side of the road = misplaced priorities.

Done! I removed that photo of the dog. It was posted in poor taste.

The photo of the dog is disturbing. We don't need to see it here.

Guys - I think the OP just wanted to vent a little bit about his accident. Sometimes it helps having a group to share thoughts with. I don't feel that he was trying to be Materialistic. I think he was merely trying to cope with the stress of his accident.

I agree with Dackel. I would give the guy the benefit of the doubt that he is concerned about hitting a dog too. He didn't just show the car, after all. But despite the fact that the pictures including the dog suggest to me that his concerns are more balanced than others think, I also wouldn't mind if the wheel with the dog hair on it came down. I think the others are sufficient.

In general, I think it is best to give people the benefit of the doubt unless you are really totally sure you know where they are coming from.

I know hitting a dog bugged me, still does, and I am willing to assume it bugs him too.

the first important thing is that i'm ok, then the poor dog, i felt bad about couldn't do anything, the least important thing is the car because it's a material thing, just want you to know about it , sorry about the dog pic

Just so you guys know... it was me who edited Wabbit 's original post - to show his photos in it, not Wabbit(bc he did not know how to share photos with us.) I also sent him a PM telling him how he can post photos in the future.

I also edited out Onkloud9 's post of the poor dog(photo) - bc we don't need to see it.

We all know that accidents happen. I am sure Wabbit feels bad for the dog. just by reading the words he chose - you can see that.

It's sad about the dog but some animals shouldn't be loose near roads, hope you get your car fixed ok.

And I apologize for jumping the gun, I have had several dogs including one GR who was run over and left for dead by some random motorist. Your post brought back some pent up anger, but I should have given you the benefit of the doubt. Hope you get your car fixed good as new.

Guys i see no reason to hump the OP over this, whether he is a dog lover or not. I think that he wanted to share something with us and if we had taken the time to ask him the following then we may all of understood what had happened better.

1. Are you and your occupants of the car ok ?
2. Were any other people involved other motorists, cyclists, pedestrians etc and are they ok.
3. Did the animal survive ? if not or it is injured i hope that you have managed to contact the owner.
4. Your car looks like it will be able to be fixed and i wish you good luck with that.

Just my 2 cents
