Forget the 335.. I want a 330d
Does anyone else want to help me start a petition to BMW NA (Canada in particular!) to bring over the 330d? I've heard that they tested the 320d here already, and are considering bringing that one... but the 330d is where the fun is. I mean, honestly... 369 foot pounds of torque at 1750 RPM?!? That's simply nuts. Sure the 330i beats it to 60 on paper, but with the butt dyno this thing blows the competition away... AND uses less fuel!
Anyway, I was thinking about that today... this car would be far better than a 335i! Drive safe |

I would like to see more choices in diesel powered vehicles in Canada as well but I am not sure it fits into the luxury market here. I mean, if you are spending the money for a luxury car, would you really care about the several hundred dollars per year that you save in fuel costs?
For example, the last time I checked into the VW Passat TDi, the diesel engine option was almost $2k more. It will take a bit of driving to make up the difference in the initial cost. Diesels would be better as an alternative to gasoline/electric hybrids, IMO. Simpler, cheaper and no expensive batteries to worry about. |

Forget the 330d, bring over the 335d!
And the appeal is not the hundreds you save in fuel costs, but the image that you are someone sensible that is concerned with the global oil situation (but value the thrill of a 335d over the even more sensible 320d...). |

330d have 500nm@1750rmp & 231cv but with ecu tuning you can have 620Nm, and like 260cv. no need 335d :-D

ok
335d have the same internal of 330d, 6 cilinder, 3000cc. 335 have 2 turbo anh i think is more compless to tuning it, and now there isn't rumors on 335... 330d maybe have a different power curve... but this not a big problem tooo torque also

You really donīt want a 330d if you can have a 330i.
The only thing a 330d is superior in is fuel efficiency. I sometimes have to drive those diesels (rental cars) and even the best of them (330d, 530d, Audi A6) still sound like a bloody Fergusson tractor. The torque is fine, but they still donīt rev. Nah, you donīt want one of those. The only reason theyīre so popular in Europe is the running costs (diesel fuel is significantly cheaper than gas over here and the diesel use less as well)

I agree with saving the environment kudos to you on being forward thinking. I could be wrong but the current high sulfur US grade diesel is worse for the environment than unleaded gasoline. It's my guess the reason the US doesn't have a diesel BMW is peoples perception and the low quality of US diesel fuel. People associate diesel with big trucks and slow cars spewing plumes of black smoke. Once US diesel fuel is made cleaner the auto industry will need to change the perception of the US consumer about using diesel in cars. Then sales of diesel cars will increase and the auto makers will focus more on diesel car engines for the US. |

It's a matter of taste, some find high revs fun sometimes but needless and tiring most of the time (not me ).. The high torque is used very often in accelerating from 80-120 km/h etc. and there is diesel much faster. The sound isn't as smooth and nice as the petrol version, but absolutely not a tractor sound.. And the fuel economy is nice as well |

Guys, you would love it.
Test drove one last week (sport with auto 'box) and was blown away. It goes like something smelly off a well greased shovel. Forget the power and acceleration figures, the mid range shove is awesome. According to figures quoted in BMWCar the 50-75mph time is the same as an E46 M3 CSL As for the drawbacks of diesel, I can't think of any except the smell if you get any on you when you fill up. From inside it's near inaudible, except for a six cylinder howl at high revs. It goes like the clappers doesn't need filling as often.....I could go on and on. That said the 335d should be even better, and definately out of my price range . Salesman I spoke to said that BMW were saying nothing about the 335d, they never do until just before launch. But he admitted that were just too many rumours from the right places for it not to be true.

Excuse my ignorance, but don't diesel cars sound like small diesel trucks? And if the 300d acceleration is a bit slower than that of a comparably equipped 330i, I assume the extra torque at that low of an RPM will give you more instantaneous (or responsive) acceleration at any given time, especially at that RPM, not to mention towing ability (which none of us are interested in using our e90 for).
