2 series Coupe info!?
Does anyone have any new information on the 1 series coupe replacement, the "2 series" coupe?
It seems ages ago when we heard that BMW will be making a 1 series couple replacement that will be called the "2 series". Since that announcement there has been NOTHING. The new 1 hatch is in production, and the new 3 is in production. Is there any real info as to when the 2 coupe will actually become available to order? I'm just ticked and mystified that BMW would leave such a gaping hole in their line up, with customers ready, willing, and able to order a new 2, but there is no car to order. Any other 1 coupe owners and fans feeling left out by BMW? |

It is a bit strange that there is no noise at all... like not even a little buzz. I just saw a bimmerpost facebook blast about the next X5 in testing - the current model is what, 3 years old?

YES! Especially since they only brought 740 1Ms to the States, I've been eagerly awaiting info on the 2 series and the M2!!

Since the LCI for the coupe just came out last year they could just carry that over for 2013 MY and release the new 2er coupe for the 2014 MY. Just what I think could happen.

there was more than 3 years (almost 4) between the launch of the 1 hatch and the coupe and convertible... I am not sure they will be that fast to replace E82 that fast (I don't think we will see it before a 2014 model)

There's a white one for $54k about 2.5 hours from me, but I'd only buy it in black, helps hide those hideous bumper slits. |

Honestly, what's wrong with the E82? I still think it looks pretty fresh in the lineup. While I think that a next-gen 2'er coupe might be nice, I have a horrible suspicion that it will instead be absolutely hideous. I like the interior of the new 1'er (saw it in person back in October when I was at The Welt), but I don't really feel the exterior. It just doesn't look as sporty and I don't think it would translate well to a coupe.
Having said all that, it did take a while for the 1'er coupe to grow on me and I had to see it in person before the whole thing "made sense" to my eye. But again, having seen the new 1'er in person already it really didn't gel in the way the 1'er coupe did. Maybe that opinion will change, but I for one am actually glad the current 1'er coupe may be continuing a bit longer. |

E70 came out in Nov. of 2006 as a 2007 model, so it's been out for 6 model years, still probably has one more to go as the new one is supposed to be released as a 2014 model.

More-so BMW looks to be stream-lining their models to look about the same. (Above photo looks a lot like the 3 series coups)

I just really hope they don't go the Audi route and make them look nearly identical.

I doubt you'll see anything from BMW until after the E82/E88 have ended production in the summer.

The E8x has been out since 2004. Yes, I know it is being replaced in hatch form, however that leaves a pretty big void in the coupe category.

Yes, but the e82 Coupe has only been out since 2007 (over here)... I think we will have to wait a while before we see a new coupe(F22). |

It seems strange that they're going to be building the E82 and F20 in the same plant concurrently. I know they're still building E92 coupes and F30 sedans - guess I was just thinking wishfully. I have 8 months until my lease is up. I'd better find out some info before then!

Nice. Although the mean front end look is getting to be a little too much for me. It's almost like a competition between car makers to make their cars look more angry than the next guy's. Pretty soon they'll be offering horn options that shout "get out of my way, a##hole" to go with the headlight treatment.
