The new 125i
I was shown info on the new 125i hatch today. 160kw, 310nm and $45,700 (M sport another $5.8k). I really like this! Does anyone know if this is the same engine as the 328i? If so, a little tuning will see this little thing fly!

Hahahaha! Problem is Alpine, will it last until when you are ready to buy it from me??? Btw, Estoril Blue is available with the M sport. I think that is what I would get! Oh and also, see my comment about M3 on Ausmotive...

Latest Wheels says the n20 in the z4 20i at 135kw and the n20 in the z4 28i at 180kw are physically identical in all but electronic tune and exhaust system aft of the turbo.

It does sound promising. Wheels also is predicting a 128i hatch in 4th quarter this year. Given the competitiveness of the 125i pricing, and assuming their n20 comments on the z4 ring true for the 1 series, I'd say the 125i is the sweet spot.

ian, you may be right there but I don't recall the E82/7 winning too many beauty contests either, I suggest a lot of us bought one for what's underneath not the looks of it.
My opinion on the 5 door is it looks ok in the metal, I want to see one in M guise before I make a overall statement. |

fantastic looking car, can't wait to see one in the metal. The only thing is the boxster looks really good as well so I'd be tempted to save coin and go for the hairdresser version. |

I saw a new 1er around central the other day. While the E82 didn't win beauty contests, this new one literally looks like shit. It attracts attention for all the wrong reasons.
From the rear, it's a VW Polo. Anyway, N20 I believe is shared across all platforms for 125i/328i. The 118i uses 1.6 turbo.

You might find the M-sport options come out down the track a bit. I believe they're only just being shown for the F30 now.

It will be interesting to see if this detuned N20 engine is otherwise identical to the more powerful 328i/z4 n20 besides software, and if they keep the engine options similar for the 2-series coupe. A 225i with N20 could make a pretty good value option if it could be easily tuned to 180-200kw (flywheel).
