Any bad affection when you curise in the low rpm?
such as losing torque/power in low rev.
have heard some ppl said feel quite obvious of losing power without the flap function!!
is that true?

Just my 2 cents..... Zip tie method is the easiest! Why would you want a code stored in the DME from pulling the cable in the trunk? Took me longer to find the zip tie in my tool box then to do the Mod.
The results are fantastic. A little louder nothing crazy and the car preforms the same.

agreed, on my old 1er, i did the trunk solenoid, it stored a code, but i could pull the code with my tech cable, but the cable was bonded to that car.

with my new 1er, i don't have a cable meaning no code clearing for me for the time being, so the vacuum line is pulled and zipped.

I've done the mod and measured the result with a sound pressure meter. It is louder at initial startup but a minute or two later, it is about the same. It has no discernable effect on power - nor would I expect it to.

I'm running the N54.

if there's no code thrown, there's no reason why people on here won't splice the wire and install a switch up by the drivers seat that turns on and off the valve so you can eliminate drone on the highway or the city if it anoys you, but turn it back off for when you're in a playfull mood.

would be very easy to do. Something i may do if i don't get an exhaust in the near future. but i really don't mind the drone as i have a bunch of hissing out the front of the car anyhow because of the intake, it's just one more noise.

now that is a cool idea... anyone try it yet?

it has been proven that the flapper solenoid does throw a code if it's been taken out.

some dealers don't care. But i don't know if your personal one would, Just ask the SA and see if they will just pull the fuse that runs it or if they prefur not.

if not, just go home and just pull the hose. That way there is no code.

if you have a BT tool or something, do withever you want

Sorry to revive this topic, but it seemed to make more sense than starting a new one...

I get this awful noise when I start my 135i.

I'm being told this is my exhaust flap making the noise. So would that mean that this mod would solve that issue?

I did this mod on my n54 and noticed an immediate ~1-2mpg average drop per tank since. Keep in mind that this is only an observation as there are no hard fact due to too many other variables at play.

I've tried in my 125i (European), but it is very hard to hear differences with the "stock mode". Maybe the sound is louder but I'm not sure.

And I disconected the connector inside the trunk:

Just did it with a zip tie and took a minute. I could definitely here the difference when idling. We'll see if it does truly affect MPGs.

Just did the zip tie method. Startup was a lot louder, sounded great, but once the revs dropped down a minute later, it sounds the same as stock. I did not notice a loss of low end torque, but I didn't notice I did the mod either. It doesn't make a huge difference, so I just cut the zip tie off and put it back to stock

I have not felt the difference in power whatsoever.

For me it worls great and my car has every bolt on.I rather make sure the flap stays open all the time to be on the safe side.WHen running high boost, you want the exhaust to flow best as possible at all times!

N54 with rear delete so basically it's like a n55 midpipe but I also eliminated all the bends out.

The flap inside my exhaust is always open? I take the vacuum hose off and put it back on and it makes no difference... I can't hear or feel any vacuum out of hose.. Something faulty??
