Ugh I want that car! Did pretty well by Stig considering it's a large 4 door sedan.

It's a heavy, heavy car. But considering it can launch itself to 60 in 4.5 seconds and able to corner a track that fast, I'm sure it'll give the 612 Scaglietti a run for its money.

I can understand Clarkson's perspective on how complicated it can get to set-up, but as a personal preference, I'd rather have detailed customizable controls than traditional simplicity. Good to have tweakable options than be stuck with pre-defined limits.

The Evo mag (June 2005) compared M6 vs. 612 and they said that the M6 "finds itself overwhelmed by the 612".
Not a surprise really.

Didn't like the review as a whole. Too much BS about it being complicated.
First of all, that sat-nav woman is only talking because he installed a destination. And she can be turned of with 2 or 3 clicks with the I-drive.
Second that radio thing? He was pressing the wrong button. Volume is on the other side, he was pressing mode.
Other than that it showed there is no "normal" car that can touche the M5.

I have the M coupe video, its not bad. It was the only BMW that clarkson actually liked.. well aside from this M5. Its funny how Clarkson starts out by saying hes loved all the M5s.. thats false, all he used to do is rag on BMWs especially the M cars and the M5.

But the guy is very entertaining and I love top gear! As for the results, those are amazing, we are comparing a 4 door sedan to all these super cars which is just unreal. THis just further proof of the potency of BMW M. Bye bye benz AMG-55 engine

These people can't be serious about the car being "complicated". Just as RikfromBelgium said above, they start nav and don't want ot bother to know how to turn it off. They press buttons without knowing what they do. He asks the question: how can BMW expect people to have to read a manual? I say how can they not?! They ask: why can't there be a button that says OFF on it? Well, then you'd get a panel with 500 buttons on it.

I can't believe this is supposed to be a respectible show about cars.

Want an "easy" car that doesn't merit reading a manual, get a rental grade car.

Hehe that's Clarkson for ya... he's purposely that way. The show is just entertainment. I like the episodes because they get the hottest cars, say funny crap, act like fools racing each other, and have awesome videography.

Did anyone see Top Gear yesterday night? It was amazing! They tested the E60 535d and the E60 545i on the test track.
Clarkson is a known diesel hater, but this time he was very pleased by the engine. To see of the 535d is as fast as the 545i what BMW claims, they put 'the Stig' (an anonymous racing driver) in the 545i and Clarkson in the 535d on a very wet track. The 545i was ahead by the start but the 535d with Clarkson (a not so good driver in comparison with the Stig) at the wheel could keep up very good in the middle section. The 545i won the race though.
Then they did a powerlap with the Stig at the wheel on a dry track with the 535d and the time was 1:31.8. At www.bbc.co.uk/topgear you can see the other powerlaps. For example a Nissan 350Z has got the same time!! The BMW M3 also has the same time, but the track was wet when they drove it.
