Even the 6 speaker has the grill for the tweeter near the mirrors. All I had to buy was the tweeter and plug them in.
The post facelift might not have the grill anymore. The 3 dr hatch in the UK now has a blank.

You can definitely tell by the raised tweeter pods in the rear though.

Seems to me that the Hi-Fi Pro system merely adds a digital surround sound amp to the package, which gives you the option of altering the soundscape between things like concert, jazzroom, etc. I don't use those features on my home theatre, so I doubt I'd get the value of it in a car. Hence I optioned the Hi-Fi (10 speaker) only.

I'm not sure if HiFi has this, but the Hifi Pro has a far bigger amplifier and metal cone speakers along with the DSP control. The soundscape as you put it settings aren't useful, but the eq is very useful. I tuned mine as per e90post and the difference was staggering! I have the HiFi Pro

Yeah post facelift, no tweeter grill unless there is really a tweeter there. So to upgrade the Std system with front tweeters means you also need to get grill covers. I did the sums and it came to something like $600 to do the front tweeter upgrade on a post facelift car. Hence I thought if I spend an extra $400 on the Hi-Fi upgrade I get the rears done as well, a bigger sub and more powerful amp.

Rear grill hump when tweeter is there is a hatch thing only, so it doesn't help all the new coupe boys here.

Kris, do you know whether the equalizer settings can be stored on the favourite buttons? That would be something!

BTW, I think that the rear fade setting is too much for my liking in that post (about 2 or 3 seems enough for me)

BMW cost cutting. On my standard face lift 118d it has standard sweeter speakers (8 speakers in total). This makes a lot of difference and brings the sound up from the bottom of the car. Why would BMW take out such important speakers. It's as stupid as not having drink holders as standard:iono:

My wife drives a IS250 with the mark levinson system, the lexus system has a little lower bass but its not as tight a sound as the Hifi pro in my 135, the BMW system also give you much more ability to tweak the sound and will play much louder without distortion.

Just make sure the one you try has the logic 7 system if it has a 7 band equaliser then it is the HiFi professional.

i went to the dealer today, and the feedback, after asking him what HiFi system they had in a 120i 'vert demo was "you can't really tell the difference. we don't sell many anyway. don't worry about it" i was in awe of how ignorant this clown was.

He was inflating ballpark prices to my dad, claimed that there were no 125 coupes, but when he recognised that we were serious about buying took us downstairs and showed us three plus 2sold 135i's.

Overall pretty crummy dealer service, but as usual, expected

If you want to continue going to Menere's, go and see Tony White who is the sales manager. He is very good and I dealt with him years ago when he was in BMW Melbourne. He sold me my first BMW actually. Tell him Wayne sent you. I will PM you my last name if you want to go back to Menere's. If not I have very good contacts with BMW Melbourne and am a VIP customer there.

Btw, I only have the bare basic sound system on my 135i, and it isn't bad. Then again I don't really listen much to it when I drive the car.
