Lightbulb Please help 330i question

Let me introduce myself... I will be graduating from dental school next spring :rocks: and I have a budget of 40k to buy a car, excluding the tax and etc... I am wondering if it is possible to get an auto 300i with Arctic paint and Nav under this price range? And I am confused about people talking about negotiating price above the invoice... what is this "above the invoice" mean? is the invoice same as MSRP listed in BMWUSA website? What price is considered good for this setup?

Also, does anyone know a good dealership in Southern California? New Century BMW or Long Beach BMW? Please help.

Invoice and msrp are two different numbers. Build the car via www.edmunds.com. You will get the invoice and msrp. You want as close to invoice as possible. Hope this helps. Have no idea about California dealers. I'm sure other posters will provide more information.

Base 330i starts at about 37k. Add nav and auto and before any discounts you are at about 41ish. Should be able to get in at around 40k if you just add nav and auto tranny. Won't have leather, but most can't tell difference between leatherette and leather (see posts on this topic). MSRP is what is listed on the BMW site. Invoice is basically what the dealer pays. Shoot somewhere in the middle.

Drop the Nav and get better lighting instead. You can buy a beter nav. systen in the aftermarket of 1/3 the price of the BMW unit and won't be saddled with i-Drive

i got mine through sterling bmw in newport beach. they were really cool. i was able to get the price of 42K and some change. the specs are in my signature. i think you should be able to hit your 40K budget. do some research and pit dealers against each other. having the dealerships compete will help out in getting a good price.

Do european delivery - you will be able to get a car with Premium package (Bluetooth is the coolest feature - and you get leather as well), Nav and Arctic for under 40k...

Thanks for the help, guys... really appreciated it.

I did a little calculation... the wholesale price for my setup would be around 37k and the MSRP is 41k. European Delivery probably would give additional savings... my question is: how does European Delivery work? I don't think I can go to Europe anytime soon... so can I ask get the ED if I order my car from local dealership here in the states?

And if I choose to skip to the aftermarket Nav system, where can I install it in the console? Do I need to change 330i's Logic7 header unit to make room for Nav?

I also read an article from LA times that the typical bodyshop don't know how to repair the new 5 and 7 series due to its aluminum frame and high tech. Does this apply to the 3 series?

Your 1st post had a typo of "300i". I assume you meant 330i.

For ED, you must personally go to Munich to take delivery.

For your specs, the invoice is about $37,620, so you should have no problems getting $40K + tax & lic. You should be able to get the SP too and still be under $40K.
