Awesome!
It describes the electronic diff lock too! Electronic rear differential lock o Functions through rear brake management o Active when DSC completely switched off So, it is active when you completely shut off DSC. That could be a problem for those of us who are planning on installing an LSD. The two would be competing against each other... |

It applies brake to the slipping wheel, BUT it does not transfer torque to the outboard wheel.

It doesn't kill the torque or let the inside rear spin and squeal like a banshee though, which is better than the current DSC.

Nice but I m desapointed by the 135 specification
- Xenon are not standard ? - No M design in the interior - sport seats optionnals ? I just hope the price will be cheaper than the 328i |

Just wish they'd do it right. I guess Quaife is going to get more business.

BMW is apparently working on a new diff that can add up to 10% speed to the wheel that grips, both on acceleration and braking. The first BMW that will feature this new diff will be the X6. Interesting stuff... |

For all current DSC equipped BMWs, adding an aftermarket locking diff has not caused the DSC system any problems.
This new DSC+ that's being described as being in the 135i is active when you completely disable the DSC (holding down the DSC buttong for more than 5 seconds). That means you'll have a mechanical locking diff competing with this new electronic version of a locking diff, with no way to disable either. I'm wondering if this will be a problem. The mechanical system will be trying to transfer power, while the electronic one is putting brakes to a slipping wheel, which seems like they could easily mess each other up. |

Surely the mechanical one will work before the electronic one - thus giving it nothing to do? |

An interesting read... I had to read it more than once to figure out what they are saying... and I think I still don't fully understand it. It does sound promising, but I don't think this is what is on the 135i. :iono:

Now the last part is still mechanical, so the real question is if the mechanical LSD will transfer the power and stop the wheel spin before the brake starts squeezing the rotor. Judging by how fast modern ABS system works, I would bet that the brake will be faster than the LSD. But then I don't know the reaction time of typical mechanical LSDs. |
