Only issue is if you live with it over time, the car starts to get rattles and sqeaks - these kinda things make me love or hate a car

He does say the ride is firm on "choppy" roads. It's been discussed on other posts that the run flats can be a bit harsh. I wouldn't worry too much. Drive it for a while, and if it's a real problem, change them. I survived the WRX harsness for over 6 years without too much grief.

Most of the article is pretty "factual". As you would expect from a Science / Health / Car writer? (Jack of all, Master of Nun?)

Have a look at his "Blog" etc. Decide with how many grains of salt you want to sprinkle on his review.

Must say, I do fit into BM's perceived demographic (well almost, a bit over the top end).
"BMW spokesman Toni Andreevski says that the 135i will predominantly be bought by men aged between 30 and 40 who are on higher than average incomes."

You mean you are over the top end the income bit? As in you are over higher than average income?

Another local review...

http://carsguide.news.com.au/site/re...e_pot_of_gold/

A bit more detailed than the review by Drive, but not by much.

Again the first sentence sums it up nicely: "BMW...has spawned what could be a performance classic in the making".

They don't complain about the run-flats too much: "While not ideal - the car still has a tendency to “hop” when the fully loaded suspension finds an extra bump mid-corner - the suspension/tyre combination is less offensive on our harsher roads than previous experience would suggest.".

"“They may come from brands like Subaru, Nissan's 350Z the [Audi] TT or even the S3. We expect a lot to be new to the brand - customers who've never previously considered a BMW.”"

Well, they've got me pegged....

I can tell you from Vortex that a lot of S3, TT, GTI and R32 owners are gonna be buying this.

Btw, from age 21 to 29, I had Boxster, E46 coupe, TT Quattro vert, Boxster S, Mini Cooper S...list goes on. Other than the 911 (old person's car), I see the rest as ok cars for people in their 20's to own!

Goauto have finally posted their local review of the 135i:

http://www.redbook.goauto.com.au/mel...25742F00060033

You actually have to keep following the links to get to their actual 'drive impressions', here:

http://www.redbook.goauto.com.au/mel...F?OpenDocument

I've only skimmed bits of it...but I think they like it!...

"We came away thinking that this car actually feels underpriced for the abilities it offers."

"And we can’t wait to have more time in one on everyday roads – to confirm what we believe is the most convincing BMW package in decades."

I meant the age bit unfortunately.

The Age in melbourne did a ripper review of the 135 today headlining the drive section. Interestingly it's completely different to the Drive article that appears on its website.

Only complaint was backseats. Everything else was absolutely sterling.

A bit late now, but here's a poor copy of what was in the CarsGuide a couple of weeks ago. Mostly fluff and no content...

I hope they give the 135i bad reviews...the worse the better. That way they will be more rare on our roads!

Having driven a 130i on the weekend I know the 135i will be a very very competent car; especially by what the reviews have said so far.

alext, i think the 135 isn't going to remain rare for very long.

in fact i think the cat is already out of the bag and running fast. soon the bag will be but a dot to it on the horizon.

Yeah unfortunately Professor is correct. But I don't mind. You buy an exotic if you want it to be rare.
