tyres in Brisbane???

I know this has been asked before, but can someone recommend a place in Brisbane that does not charge an arm and a leg for tyres?
I need some 255/30/19, and was quoted $430 each for Kumho, when Tempe tyres and others in Sydney are selling for $240 or less. Over $400 for a Kumho tyre? Come on!!!
Tirerack is wanting $500 for postage of 4 tyres, making it not worthwhile.
I may end up getting them from Sydney if I can't find them here at a reasonable price.

Thx

Did you get that quote from Tyre Power? I remember getting around the same numbers when I called lol.

$500 for shipping is definitely not right, they quoted me $270 shipping for 1 set (regardless of whether 18" or 19" they gave me the same price). I am 100% sure because I just bought a set last week and it's on the way to Brissy now.

You should try and email Larry who was very helpful: larry@tirerack.com

Thanks.

The price is from Bob Jane.
I might try Larry. Gill quoted me over $500 for a set of 20" tyres for my X5. Admittedly they are quite a bit heavier than the 19".

If Kumho's are all you want, maybe you can get someone to ship them to you from Tempe Tyres, the AUD isn't as good as it was a month ago...

Michelin PSS. Both the 18" and 19" are $9xx USD a set but whether GST is imposed will depend on the AUD on the date it leaves the US. If only the AUD was still over $1 USD

Tried Kmart Tyre & Auto for Kuhmo's? One of the first sets a few years back after my RFT were Kuhmo's and Kmart was the cheapest by a long way.

I bought 2 Michelins Pilot Super Sports 19'' from tirerack a month ago and cost shipping was just under $300 but those tyres are $850-$1000 a tyre in Australia as compared to $330 EACH in the USA.
The cheaper end of the market its not worth getting them from overseas.

Just checked with one Kmart, $430 for kumho ku 31, $460 for ku 39. How can it it cost so much more here than Sydney????
I think it is either good tyres from US or cheap tyres from Sydney.

Can I just check, those of you who got tyres from tire rack, did they arrive at your house? Did you need to do custome clearance, pick up from custom/airport etc?

18" were about $920 a set, 19" were around $990

But with the USD now, 19" will go over $1k GST threshold... and maybe even the 18" if AUD keeps dropping

Just got a quote from Larry at tirerack, shipping 278, so not too bad, but they are out of stock for the front PSS.

Can someone comment on if their tyres got sent to their address directly from tire rack, and whether they need to fill in any paper work for custom etc?

Thanks for the recommendation. I think I will get the Kumho from them. His price is pretty much the same as Tempe when taking postage and fitting into consideration.

I can't wait for the Michelin even though US$ 1310 landed (may be +GST) for 4 of 19in tyres are really good value as I just found out the rear tyres are down to the canvass. Too much which spinning will do that.

Also, he will fix the nail in my runflat tyres of my X5, which Bob Jane refused to do.
