Bring on the hatred!

OK, I'm brand spanking new to the forum (being a member that is) and I'm a saleman for BMW. Believe me when I say that I understand and respect most of your inconsolable hatred for car salesman. I hate me as well. That aside, if there is anything i can do for any of you please let me know/ send me dead fish or whatever. I don't mean sales, i mean tracking cars, answering questions, or being a target for threats and complaints. No joke, tell me your gripes and i'll try to help. Thanks for the hopeful acceptance into you're hallowed ranks!

Hatred? My salesman was nice and straightforward...salespeople gotta make money too...as long as they don't lie I got no probs with them making some profit.

Ok good. That's what i want to hear. BMW owners typically don't have bad experiences, but there are bad apples in every profession. Thanks for the confidence.

Welcome to the fold!

Car salesmen are a bit like cops, a few bad apples spoil the bunch.

I've met some horrible salesmen and I've also met some great salesmen. They're usually pretty easy to differentiate, as the good salesmen know what they're talking about and the bad one's just make shit up. It's also to my benefit that I usually know more about the cars I'm looking at than the salesmen that are working with me.

Do you tell your customers about the potential HPFP issues? My salesman conveniently dodged the question everytime. Not that it was a real problem for me, I already knew of the issue before I went to buy the car. But it was shifty for him to just talk about something else whenever the words 'fuel pump' came up in the conversation.

Nothing personal against salemen.....Just provide me a good product at a good price. No sale necessary, and cut the shit with the general manager; i'm sure it's just coffee and talking about sports when you go back to get the price. I just want to hear the bottom dollar from teh GM. I've got an idea of what i'll pay and wasting my time back and forth a few dollars at a time is the bigggest turnoff. I know you're trying to squeeze out every dollar....just go carmax on me same price for all....

My salesman was alright. Didn't really know much in the way of nitty-gritty details about the cars he was selling, but then I've never worked with a dealer who did.

I bought my 135i through Kuni BMW here in Portland, Oregon. It was a fun experience, doing ED and the relationship with Kuni remains very positive with both sales staff & service. Kuni knows how to create a sense of community with their customers, e.g. Quarterly social events that draw big crowds, support for local CCA, etc.. I'd buy from them again. Treat your customers with respect and create a community of enthusiasts = everyone wins.

I just ordered my 135 at Lexington recently and was not impressed with the sales man that struck me. I practically called him and told him that I was coming to order a 135i.I just got annoyed by his multiple trips to his GM and his lack of enthusiasm to show off the different cars that BMW has in its arsenal. There was a M3 parked outside and a Z4 in the showroom.I took sometime [during his trips to his GM]to savor the beauty of those machines and he was like," Ahem....I just got back from my manager and he said......" .He just had no passion .He had no info about the 1M.I had to personally call him multiple times for my VIN.I know its just a job but I am a professional too and I sure have much enthusiasm towards my profession.

I hope he doesn't mess up the order as the options i chose dont show up when i track the vehicle.Long story short...unless he really impresses me at the delivery I am not going back to them again to buy my next BMW.

Phew.....I feel better now.Thanks

Got our 128 at Kuni in Portland also. Unlike ever other car we have purchased, we were actually happy to sign the papers and weren't really ready to leave after the deal was done, other than to get our car on the road. Staff was nice, fun to look at the other cars and nice to talk to other customers and staff who are as excited about the car(s) as we are/were. No issues at and will go back without a thought when its time to get another.

Okay, only thing my sales guy tanked on was not knowing the history behind the roundel. First thing he said, its a propeller. NO! It is not, know the brand you sell and know the cars.

I hate when salesmen don't know their competitors products, letalone their OWN products... I feel like whenever I walk into the BMW showroom I know more than the guy trying to sell me the car. And don't bag out the competition...

Welcome! I agree with Kamal, a few can taint your overall experience of them. I have purchased a lot of cars in the past years and have dealt with great ones and terrible ones. I know that you all have a job to do, and as long as you do what you can for me, I am more than happy to throw some business and profit your way.

Welcome to the forum!
I tend to research cars to an anal-retentive degree, so 3 out of 4 times I look at a car I end up knowing a LOT more than the salesman, which is annoying.

Recently bought mine at Passport in MD. Dealt with Joern Esser for ED, and it all went smoothly. But along the way, I dealt with lousy salesmen at 2 other dealerships. Those dealerships have crummy reputations, so I should have expected it.

But welcome to the board, trek!

I've got nothing against salesmen

Their skulls make good fertilizer.

Just kidding, I sold cars for a while myself many years ago. Thought I'd love being around cars all day. What a mistake. Hated the scurvy GM and ended up in a yelling match with him on the salesfloor on a crowded Saturday. The whole thing ended with me telling him to give his trophy wife back to the teenage kid he bought her from and to lie to customers his own damn self. Later that day one of the other salesmen told me that he told the customers who overheard the exchange that he found out I was a felon and released me and apologized to them because I "didn't leave quietly." I have to admit, it was a quick thinking save on his part.

Hope you have a better GM and a better career at it.

And for the record, for every bad salesman there's a jerk customer that deserves him

I dont know about the rest of the people here, but my buying experience was great when I was buying my BMW. I traded in my last car, and my Sales Rep went with me to various places and helped me get the best offer on my last car. Then helped me get the exact car I wanted, even drove me to the pick-up center when my car was ready.

The day I called my bank to send over the checks from the States was the day the volcano erupted. He was there again to help me thru that situation. I would recommend Pentagon Auto Sales to anyone and everyone looking to buy a BMW/Mini here in Ramstein. Great people.

ok I have no problems with salesman until the lie. don't just make up some false information because you don know the answer to my questions. I would respect you more if you would just say your not sure but will look into it for me. I went to New Country Bmw in Hartford and the salesman was very polite and an all around nice guy. I was there to test drive a 2008 135I to get a feel for the car even though I knew I didn't want to buy that particular one because it was a vert. I asked the salesman what was the weight diff. and he told me 150 LBS. i knew this was wrong because of the mechanical mechanisms and stiffening of the chassis but he went on in his lies when I questioned him about it. Very unprofessional.
