thunk when closing e88 rear window

I have a new to me 2008 128i convertible and noticed that occasionally when I close the rear window, i will hear a clunk. I notice there is a small amount of fore/aft play on that window that doesnt exist on the other rear window (that doesnt clunk)
The window opens/closes fine otherwise.
Is this a problem with the regulator or something else? Anyone have any idea what could be going on?

The only way to find out will be opening the rear panel and look for the regulator to make sure is working correctly. I replaced both of my rear regulators on my e90. Its not hard to replace and it may be similar on the e88. Could be that the regulator is about to go.
