E88 how do I leave the top open half way?

I have a new to me e88 and am trying to figure out how to get the top to stay open half way so I can repair the glass.

I put it into ignition mode and open the top so that the glass is horizontal and let go. However if I turn the ignition off, after a few seconds the top will go down. I'm not sure if the hydraulics just lose power and gravity happens (so I can put something there to keep the fre open) or does the top actively retract to prevent damage (in which case I shouldn't prop it up).

Any tips on how to keep the top partially ipen with the car off?

Thanks

The system only stays pressurized for a little bit after you stop the actuation mid-sequence. It is not retracting under power. Find a box that will work to keep it propped up. Use cloth to protect any surfaces. This is what I did and I had no issues.
