Anyone have a picture of Standard Seats Compared to Sports Seats?
Does anyone have a picture of the Standard Seats compared to the Sport seats in the BMW 128/135?

Darn, i thought Sports seats came standard in 135i (maybe its only 2009?) this is from the Borchure..."
Exclusively in the BMW 135i Coupe: a wealth of unique styling and performance enhancers come standard. Bolstered front sports seats hold you firmly in tight curves." |

The Sedonna Red car in the brochure is optioned with the Sport package.
Lester gets credit for the seat comparo. Also, this pic demonstrates the optional right-hand drive seating position.:biggrin:

Both the '08 and '09 135i come with the sport suspension standard. It's necessary to order the optional $1,100 Sport Package to get the sport seats and M steering wheel for both model years. Tom |

There are several people on this forum who ordered standard and are now looking for the sport seats as a trade or upgrade. The M-Sport option is a no brainer.
The only reason not to get sport seats is if your booty is a little x-l and you need the extra space. You also get thigh rest adjustment, visible on the sport seats as a gap 4" back from the front of the seat.. That is the easiest way to tell sport seats from non sport seats. Plus, there is one adjustment missing on the standard seats, I believe it is the 'tilt angle' adjustment. You don't need the power seat option, but you do need/want the sport seats. |

FWIW I had the Sport seats in my X3 and I loved them (although they were of a different design, they had pretty aggressive bolsters)

sport seats are a must. Had them in my 3 series and will have them in Dec when my 135 arrives. You have to sit in them to fairly judge though.

Took this from the BMW catalogue
"Sport seats for driver and front passenger (shown here with optionally available Boston leather upholstery in Black), with infinitely variable electric backrest width adjustment for optimum lateral support, plus manual adjustment of fore-and-aft position, seat height, backrest angle, seat angle and thigh support (standard on 135i)." anybody know what the part in bold means? does this mean you can adjust the bolsters width? what does it exactly mean ? |

The sport seats offer three features not on the standard seats. (1)The inflatable side bolsters that can be adjusted to supply more lateral support when you want it. (2) The adjustable thigh support. And (3) the one nobody has so far mentioned on this thread: adjustable angle of the seat bottom (or "squab" for the Brits among us), a very helpful feature because you can adjust that angle to deliver your own back to the seat back to give you just the degree of lumbar support you like. Some drivers like the seat nearly flat front to back, some like the back a lot lower than the front. This feature is built into the electric seats, whether sport or not, but it is absent on the manual non-sport seats. I like the inflatable bolsters but could live without them. I'd really miss the thigh support, which I've had on other cars for years. And, for me at least, the ability to adjust the angle of the bottom is crucial. If you want this third feature and don't want to plump for electric seats, the sport seats are where it's at.
OOPS! Edit. I see that Lester mentioned the "tilt adjustment" but didn't elaborate. Credit where credit's due. +1 with all who think the sport seats are a must.

I had the sport seats in a 3er, and I now have the standard seats in the 1er. The standard seats are very comfortable on long drives and for daily driving. The pictures don't do them justice.
I am a wider frame guy, so the sport seat bolsters (no matter how much you deflate them) are not comfortable. The other benefit of the standard seats is getting in/out of the car...small bolsters, less wear and ease. I like the way the sports seats look, hands down! ...but I am more interested in my own comfort then looks. If you aren't tracking the 135i, then the sport seats are not a must have.

Definitely a subjective thread......go try them out yourself. I couldn't live without them.

When you get out of the car put your left palm on the door sill to support your weight and "roll" yourself out. Getting in/out that way keeps you from rubbing on the seat bolster as much.
