Have you ever smelled burning rubber after getting out of the car, daily driving?
I drove over to the post office after work today and smelled burning rubber when I got out of the car. I looked all four tires over and didn't see anything rubbing. I smelled around the engine bay but it was definitely coming from the rear tire area.
Apparently, the 2nd gear pulls on the way over there were tough on the two new rear tires. I didn't turn DTS off but the tires try to spin anytime I hit the gas in 1st gear and struggle for traction in 2nd. I thought something was wrong because I don't recall smelling anything like that with the old fairly worn tires. Anyone else smell it without doing burnouts?

I just put a new set of tires on my car, and I noticed the same thing over the weekend a couple of times. I had ran the car a little hard, but not enough to light up the tires. Now that someone else has mentioned it I'm going to pay more attention to what's going on when I'm smelling it.
Maybe the stability control doing something funny? |
