Extended maintenance plan

I extended the maintenance plan to 6 years 75K miles when I bought my 2006 325i. The cost for the extension was roughly $1,000. Was it worth it? Would I really spend $1,000 if I pay for the maintenance myself? I drive less than 15K miles a year. The dealership said that I could get a refund if I changed my mind. Should I go and cancel the extended maintenance plan?

This is a good question and also is $1,000 a decent price for this?

I was thinking of getting this for my wifes car when it arrives and didn't know what to expect to pay for the extended 6-yr/75k-mile protection....?

I would say it is def worth $1k but can it be bought cheaper anywhere else?

Are brakes covered under the extension or are they already part of the standard plan? I would pay that much for the brakes and rotors to be covered.

Yes. I believe that brakes and rotors are covered. So how much does it cost to replace the brakes and rotors? How often is that done?

Does anyone know what the typical cost of routine service items like oil change, Brake job etc. is? I'm on the fence about extending the maintenance plan. I plan to keep the car for at least 6 years so I would like to do the math on extending the maintenance plan. I am also considering an extended warranty. Any information you guys might have from your experiences would be very helpful. Thanks.

my plan is to wait until 4/50 is about to expire and decide whether both extended plan (maintenance and warranty) will be worth it base on performance of car.

Is there a price difference if you wait that long?

Paying for an extended warranty at time of purchase is usually cheaper than waiting and buying later. That's pretty much true for any industry. Plus because I extended it at time of purchase, I was able to wheel and deal and got a few hundred dollars off. Also I was told that brakes/rotors will be taken out of the maintenance plan in the near future.

My dealer just quoted me $1065 for 6yr/100,000. Sounds pretty good to me but I still would like to know what a typical brake job, typical routine service, etc. costs so I can do the math.

If you take it to independent shop it would cost $650 for break jos and dealer is around $1200, to me it makes sense to get the ext maint program if you plan to keep the car more than 6yrs.

Based on my 95, 325is:

Brake Job: (replacing rotors and brakes) $1380
Oil Service: $55
Inspection 1: $150 -$250 depending on issues
Inspection 2: ~$700-$900 depending on issues

Extra $1000 for another 2 years / 25000 miles!? PRICELESS!

For that price you could get up to 6 yrs / 100k.

I plan to trade in my car once I pay it off or when the new camaro comes out, whichever comes first, so I doubt I will purchase the extra warranty, but i know that its a no-brainer to get bc it pays for itself with just one break job
