Your Opinion on Breyton GTS-R Black w/ Red Stripe?

hey guys,

My cars jet black with tinted windows, tinted tails, shadowline emblems, etc.

how do you guys think the breyton GTS-R with the red stripe would look on there? GTS-R

There are several black cars on here that have that setup. Search and you'll find them...

IMHO I think they fit the look of the car pretty well and are a decent enough wheel, but are a bit too common. Maybe they are just too common on 1addicts, but it seems like every fourth thread in the wheel forum is someone rocking the Breyton GTS or GTS-Rs.

I drive an AW 135i with the breyton GTS-Rs with the red stripe and always get great compliments on the wheels. I think with your car being jet black, with tinted windows, tinted tails, shadowline emblems, etc. your car would look sick! Do it. Also love how light the wheels are! Just my 2 cents...

I have them...they look GREAT, but very fragile. I cracked two within 4 months.

OEM tires. Two front rims cracked at 4 months, now I just got the car out of service today and two more (one front & one rear) have cracks. WTF? I'm going to start calling them TireCrap.com...that's what they sold me.

that's because they are pretty much the only aftermarket wheels available for the 1 series that actually have correct offsets

LOVE my GTS-R's! 6 months with them now and couldn't be happier. Noticed the more nimble feel right away upon installing them, and lost 8 lbs per corner even while going from 17's to 18's on my 128. Running 225/40's front and 255/35 rear, Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus, and for the street they are an excellent tire. The red stripe on the wheels is def not over the top and in any case it would be super easy to make it go away without being able to notice. The matte grey does an uncanny job of masking brake dust - really! As a bonus, they are so easy to clean also if you use a cobweb brush - in and out of each hole once or twice and it even gets the whole inside of the wheel clean in like one minute per wheel, it's ridiculous! I have never seen them on another 1er. All 25 or so of us who have them are spread out across the country, and I'm in CT where they're certainly not as common (1ers OR Breytons), so rock on with them my brother!

These are some of my favorite rims. I have a Jet black 135 also and want to put them on or the Advan RZ's in gunmetal finish. They are 19's though but are still lighter than stock.

How much offset margin is tolerable on the 135i. Offset 135i Stock wheels : Front : 49 - Rear : 52 . A difference of 5 compared to the Breytons. Any consequences on controls? Abnormal load ?

See photos in my sig (BSM, but you can't really tell the difference in a photo anyways).

Until there's more than 1 case of the GTS-R's cracking around here, I wouldn't worry about that. I've hit some pretty bad pot holes where I live (even on the freeway) and mine are fine. Put at least 10,000 miles on my wheels, 2nd set of tires, and done 2 driving events (autox, car control clinic).

Agreed.

I have over 20,000 miles on my set of GTS-R's and they have been wonderful. I have put them through the ringer via normal road conditions (potholes, expansion joints, road contruction, etc...) and they have been great.

Texas Kid has been beating the "defective" drum for months now. He is on a personal quest to bash this wheel because we asked to inspect the damage on his current wheels, instead of just mailing him a new pair at no charge (his preferred solution.) He has, to this day, declined inspection. We have no way to know if the damage stems from a defect in the wheel or abuse.

Seems like a totally reasonable approach to me. If it was a BMW wheel, the dealer would want to inspect it first hand prior to resolving the issue. No way would BMW give you a new wheel without giving the damaged wheel back first.

OBTW, this wheel is great looking.

My Breyton's are still holding up after about 6,000 miles including many unintentional pothole hits without any cracks. Great wheels.
