I've got 235/40's up front, 255's out back. The only complaint I have is the front tires look fat compared to the skinny rear tire.

Kamal is spot on. He is only being prudent and cost conscious, nothing wrong with that. The $100 comment posted by others is inflammatory and doesn't bring value to the conversation.

I'm dealing with less power so this may not be that helpful. Kept the stock staggered 18" 263 wheels and squared the tires w/ 225/40/18. After reading a lot of reviews (Tire Rack etc.) went with Sumitomo HTRZ3's. Had a hard look at the Conti DW's too but put off by the soft sidewall reports. Quite pleased with the ride and autoX performance and the price is hard to beat.

You running 225 on all four corners? I'm debating the 225/245 or 225/255 right now but I don't know about going -20 from stock in the back. How is it?

To op. Not sure if you finalized your decision. The good news is that there will be a good fit so there is no issues there. The contis are rated down to 7,5 inch rims and you won't get rub with that small increase in size. You'll also in theory get less understeer which is a bonus. However, I assume you are talking about the extreme contacts. If so I had a very bad experience with them as DEs. Brand new tires on my E90 went to a DE and they literally started to chunk and fall apart on the outer edge taking the abuse on the corners. It was so bad I had to cut short my weekend for fear of not being able to make it home. If you aren't going to DE these then they are great for the street. If you are going to DE even occasionally then stay away. They are on my 'do not buy again' list for any cars that I will DE. Up until I had tried the contis I had been running Goodyear asymetrics both on street and track with no issues other than of course that these tires too are not track tires. They took the abuse though and if it's any indication I repurchased multiple times because I was pleased with their performance. They now sell the asymetric 2s which I don't have any experience with.

I would not even hesitate going to 225/245. The more front tire the better. Our cars are lacking front tire more than they are lacking rear tires. It will still be an upgrade, and handle better than it does now.
The DW are a great tire. Order them up and enjoy your car! |
