Help on Advice for 128 Demo Offer
Wondering if anyone can advise on what offer I should give for a 2008 128 demo that I liked with $6,750 worth of options (comfort pkg, auto, sunroof, parking sensor, and metallic paint, yet I didn't need most of them) and it has around 15,000km. The MSRP w. options would be $40,650 before all taxes and fees (including $299 admin fees, and $2270 of PDI, freight, air, and gas taxes). So if the dealer is offering me $39K all tax and fees included, is that a good offer?
What would be a reasonable counter offer to give? I was thinking $36k (which is $8k or 20% off the $40,650 MSRP w. option price), considering the demo would be more like a used car with that much mileage, plus I feel this further discount should be given since I'm paying for all those options that I didn't need in the first place, and it's end of month during these bad economic times when other mfrs are offering alot more incentives. Thanks for your help! |

The car is already on their lot, and has been for a LONG time. Exclude the freight costs at this point, and tell them why.

most peep selling the demo knows the car has been used and abused like no other. The damage that has been done to the carwould show even if you maintain it well throughout the whole time that you have the car.Plus there are so many miles on the car already shows it. Go kelly blue book it and take the price of it as poor condition. That should be the price that i would pay for.

Thanks. Yep, the $39K offer they gave was calculated by giving me 14% off the MSRP w. option price and waiving the $2270 of freight, PDI, air/gas taxes. So I thought 20% off MSRP w. option price should be a reasonable counter offer.

15,000km isn't a demo, that's a used car. Here's the Canadian Black Book quote for a 128 with 15,000km, courtesy the folks at GM Canada.

Go with the black book values. If you owned the car already and asked them how much it was worth they'd quote you BELOW the black book value, think about that too.

Please keep me in the loop, because I am *considering* selling my 08 that has almost the same mileage (actually, 11k) and I would consider something in the $32-$33k range. Cheers. C. |

Wow sounds like they are totally taking advantage of you being a woman!
A brand new 128i with those options is $40k (+PDI+shipping), so they are offering to take off $1K LOL...I got $1800 off my brand new ordered 135i. Offer them $30k and don't go past $32k, WALK AWAY for anything more then that! |

Ah I didn't see that was tax it, not bad I guess, on the upper end.
Don't think I'd be paying that much for a demo with 15k on it but thats me...its not a bad deal all in all. |

I ended up getting $8350 or 21% off MSRP! I couldn't get them to take the $299 admin fees off though. But I didn't budge from the $32K (before tax) I counter-offered. So walked away a few $100 less than my budget.
I can't wait until I pick it up on Monday! Anything that I should look out for or be warned about when I get my car? Btw, I'm thinking of getting the transparent Storm Guard to prevent stone chips, since I do alot of highway driving. Does anyone recommend that or know what a good price would be? BMW charges $500 for the guard, which I find is quite pricey. Thanks everyone for your advice! |

This is the one and only option I wish I hadn't opted out of. I have some pretty nasty dings from highway driving and with Sedona Red paint they show up quite noticeably |

Looks like my invisible shield that I have for my iPhone! Btw, I didn't get winter floor mats. And also, the dealer didn't give extended warranty but we discussed it and since BMW doesn't provide any rebate to the dealer on the used warranty period before sale of a demo to customer, the dealer couldn't extend. But at least the start date for my 08 model was only last July. |
