Thumbs up NOICE GUY

I dont know if anyone remembers this small post of mine from a few weeks ago.

I was stopped at the red light when the car stopped behind me had a brain explosion and decided to take off before the lights changed green...

The impact was quite forceful forcing my car forward and stalling.

Cleaned up the car the next day and took to a panel shop to find no damage at all besides 2 little stone chip type marks just above the diffuser, caused by the other cars number plate.

Didnt want to go through the whole process of repairing and repainting a new car for two little marks, so just arranged with the panel shop for a touch up.

WELL.... Got in touch with the chap who rearended me and informed him that it would cost $195 to repair/touchup without insurance, and that I wouldnt lodge a claim against him. (bear in mind that I have "Max No Claim Discount/Rating Protection For Life" ) So it makes no difference to me regardless.

WELL... This chap sends me a Bank Cheque for the $195../ A Good Luck card apologising for the inconvienance he has caused me../ and a $1 Scratchie....

NOICE BLOKE..

Great to see genuinely nice people still exist in this world....

I'm sure the way you handled the situation went a long way to him being so good about it.

So I am guesssing the reason you have come here to praise this guy who rear ended you is because the scratchie he gave you just won you $1m???? Just kidding. Nice guy.

i had a guy bump into the back on my 135 a few weeks ago whilst i was waiting to turn. Stupid tossa (foreign student) rolled into the back of me. Gave my car a bit of a shunt and we pulled over. Only a small mark and no visable damage but i got his details and insurance (his sisters car) details. Called BMW insurance and they told me to get it checked out and that they would chase his insurer so i have no excess to pay. Took it to BMW repair shop in melbourne and they are replacing the entire rear bumber and assembly underneath (impact bars etc). I told the guy that i was amazed at how little damage there was considering the impact and he told me that the 135 rear end is as hard as nails. However they have some parts under the rear that must be replaced even in the event of a minor bingle. So my guess is that it will cost updwards of $2 to $3k - all at his insurers cost.

Moral of the story - BMW 135 is one tough car but even minor repairs cost a packet. And for the guy that smacked into me i guess you better pay more attention when driving. I'm stuffed if i'm going to have latent issues in the paint work (flaking) because he didn't keep his eyes open.

Ha! That's ok mate. I got nowhere with Yarra Trams. They've done it all before - good luck to anyone trying to claim from them. Car's fixed though, looks like new.

It's great to hear there's an honest person out there Joe. Personally, we've had no such luck. Our Volvo has suffered from two separate carpark incidents in the last year. The first was when it was only a fortnight old! No note on both occasions so we got slugged with the repair costs on our own insurance. We're currently still in the middle of getting the second job fixed. It's already been at the smash repairers twice for a total of 12 days, and needs to go back again to fix up all the problems with their repairs. Needless to say ... I highly recommend that everyone avoid Thompson & Robinson Smash Repairs. They might be cheap, and hence the insurance companies love them, but their work is extremely shoddy!

... so many bingle stories!

It's been a long wait, but I get my 1er back from the repairers tommorrow. Can't believe how long a condenser takes to come across from Germany....
