e46 m3 motor?

just out of curiosity, is an e46 m3 motor a viable replacement should my n51 ever die?

are motor swaps in bimmers roughly as simple as a motor swap in a chevy?

Def. going to be harder than your typical LS into an RX7 swap. Not so much the hardware as it is all the associated wiring and looms.

The S54 "should" work fine in terms of spacing. But that's not the hard part with these swaps...

Better question to ask of ilikebmxbikes

He swapped a S65 into a 135i. It won't be exact, but would give you some idea of what you're in for.

It all depends on the wiring. Marco did an s65 because the wiring/coding turned out to be similar/the same between the n54 and s65.

Some people talked about a 2JZGTE swap...Who knows about that wiring disaster.

Once this engine goes, the S54 is one engine that I have my eyes on. This will not be for at least another 3 years though..

I don't think your N52 is going to go in anywhere close to 3 years.

I wonder if an LS swap will be popular with these cars in the future. If the s65 fit an LS should fit. Would the S52 be heavier than the N51/2 I thought the N engines were very light.
