Infamous N46 engine noise

Got myself a strange ticking noise developing from the engine at idle. Sounds like a stick caught in a fan belt (which it isnt). I've taken it to a couple of techs who failed in their assumptions and am left to find the issue myself.

Ive changed the plugs, PCV and oil etc. so no go on the service item straight fix. I have even given it a good Italian tune up! But no go. Only runnning 98 or 95 octane fuel at the least too.

Has anyone have any experience with the conundrum I'm explaining?

Try some of that Liqui Moly - Tappet Stop Noise additive.
