Maybe I have just been lucky in the past.. BUT the last four new BMW's that I have owned, I only had ONE warranty issue, which was a drivers door rubber window seal comming apart on my 06/330Ci..
Where the 135i in 15 months have had six warranty claims with three being major repairs.. HPFP and the ECU being reflashed twice..Oh..And the roof is to be replaced soon aswel.. |

http://autos.yahoo.com/articles/auto...-by-car-maker/ here's an interesting short list I found today on yahoo of certain brands best and worst cars for reliability. 328i is obvious for best because it's the bread and butter na inline 6 model. 535i is interesting. Must be because of the combination of the N54 issues with all the technical issues that come with the bigger/more sophisticated models. I was surprised the new 7 or one of the X models wasn't on there for worst, but when I asked my service advisor about the new 7 he said he hasn't had a single one in for a warranty issue as of a couple weeks ago. Maybe BMW's getting better?

I know you guys do not have Mercury Down in Austrailia. But they are a luxury brand of Ford. My dad has owned 5 Mercurys in the past ten years with nothing other than standard mantinence, nothing has gone wrong and the 2 we still have are pulling strong at 155K miles and 140K miles on the ODO.
Mercurys tend to cost somewhere between 40K and 50K USD new and they are in the top 10. Just an FYI for those blaming the price and advancedness, yes its not a word, of a car on BMW's poor showing. The fact of the matter is that I have had more problems with my 1er than my dad had with all of his American and British cars combined over the past 40 years. The 1er is a blast to drive, but mine has been in the shop for a total of almost 2 months of the time that ived owned her. |

as for quality, the plastic surrounding the latch to pull the seat forward on the top corner to let a passenger into the rear seats just fell off my drivers seat. Seems like something is missing on the plastic surround itself, as there is nothing for it to click into place =/
Think it may have been like that when i picked up the car, as i always noticed the leather around it seemed a bit loose... oh well, back to the dealer... |
