We won't look too closely then.

Haven't yet! I definitely need to at least wrap it with ppf soon though, I don't want it exposed to too much sunlight. My current internal debate is if I paint it to match, it has zero resale value. BUT, I don't really ever intend to sell this car. I've been (somewhat passively) searching for a paint shop in the area that will do it without too much bother. The BMW shop was uneasy about the "technicalities" of painting the whole hood but not the vents.

My opinion (again) is NOT to paint it because it looks so good in its natural carbon fiber state with your Carbon Black paint. Of course, it's not my opinion that matters but I feel compelled to tell you nonetheless. Just my 2 cents which is worth just that. Haha

Wonder if it's possible to put just a transparent layer of Carbon Black over the hood- still be able to see the CF if you look for it, but still get a slight bit of that black or blue depending on the angle aspect?

I dunno, probably not possible to pull it off the way I see it in my head, but it sounds cool- cake and eat it too kinda thing

I think this is the effect you're thinking about:

Colored carbon is a real thing but is exceptionally expensive and has to be done during the creation process since the colors are on the CF weave itself.

Not really part of the build but did a bit of a trunk "revamp"! Got a nice looking bag to organize my tools and emergency equipment.

In the bag:
  • Jumper cables
  • Heat reflective emergency blanket
  • Hand warmers
  • Camping ponchos

Under the trunk deck:
  • First Aid kit
  • Spare fuses
  • Extra quart of oil
  • Tire iron (multiple sizes, collapsible)
  • Original BMW Tool bag
  • Heavy-duty tow-rope (used to use this with my Tahoe to pull people out of snow banks, I keep it in the 1er now in case I need rescuing lol)

Also in the trunk is the original BMW triangle kit and an REI camp towel hanging above the bag. Happy with the way everything looks and how nicely it's secured now, no more loose stuff to slosh around!

Talking Detailed!

Freshly detailed interior. I'm close to turning 70k miles but I'm happy to say the interior still looks like it's brand new.

Tomorrow will be the exterior, and here's to hoping the rain holds out before cars and coffee sat morning

It's amazing the interior is able to look as good as it does considering the mess this one makes... All of the leather and plastics are in GREAT shape. I really just need to get the paint on par with the interior now

Seconded. I love mine.

Interior is looking great. Cleaning up after my border collie that rides with me a few times a week takes constant attention, so much respect on making yours look so mint!

Thanks guys! I've thought about it, and I'm sure it's just a matter of time before I pull the trigger on a set. They're just a bit pricey IMO.

Looks awesome! I'm debating if I want to do gloss black or matte black grilles. I don't know which one I like better on our color.

I painted this one myself in gloss black with the 3 ///M colored slats, I'm super happy with the way it came out and I don't think the matte would look quite as good considering there's no other matte on my car. That said, I've seen ones with matte wheels/other trim and it ties in nicely.

Honestly, it's killing me lol. I really want it to match the car but in some lighting it just looks so damn good.

Yeah, I'll bet it's going to be hard to make that decision to paint it.
