It's a pretty unpleasant daily driver and the engine sounds like a vacuum humping a weed whacker.

I know the 0-60 and 1/4 mile are about the same as the 128. Does it feel that way though. My friend test drove one and said it felt really slow. I guess all the power is at the very top end of the rev range.

Disagree. BRZ looks purposeful and the 1er looks like a chick mobile.

Maybe auto 128i, but definitely slower than 6MT. BRZ stock feels like a dog.

I saw a guy trading in a three year old cayman for a brz the day I went to the Subaru dealer to check one out. He got a check for five grand and an ugly (to me) stupid car in return. Our cars are so much better.

St1g- if you were to do it all over again, and I want my car to eventually end up like yours, what would you prioritize in terms of your mods?

I know a guy who traded a Cayman R for one.

I'm pretty happy with the order of things. I did the immediate visual things when I got the car to make it a bit more livable. Headers were an excellent power boost and gave the car the character it deserved. Tune worked well at the same time as the manifold as they each need each other to make maximum gains.

I guess the only thing I might change is getting rid of the run flats sooner. I knew it was going to be a huge difference, but hadn't factored in dropping 40.4lbs of unsprung weight.

I do agree with STIG on changing to non runflats, and thinking about lighter wheels.

My path was exhaust, front sway, manifold, tune, airbox with cosmetics sprinkled in. The path allowed me to make power but accentuate e82 drawbacks in suspension

In hindsight for performance, i suggest perhaps the following order:
Airbox -to make the car breathe and make it the best it is, right now
Learning the throttle reset procedure with the pedals -this will avoid the tune until you know what you want. a used sprint booster/pbx also works, get it real cheap tho
Tires (and wheels)
suspension ( M3 subframe bushes, front control arms, better shocks or coils, maybe sway bars) this will allow you the best control for non runflats and make the car the shine in natural form
The rest of mods( DISA, tune, other m3 bits etc.)

I personally always say suspension>power. I'm putting my eibach pro-kit springs on my M-sport shocks soon, but i had non sport suspension originally and i swapped it for m-sport. 20/20 hindsight, i should've just gotten Perf suspension or the full eibach pro kit in the first place. Following i went mostly cosmetic, headlights, tail lights, carbon fiber spoiler, front lip, etc etc, since i needed to live with it as my DD and i like it looking pretty. I probably won't ever do power mods since i'm driving at a rate of 30k a year and ill be at 100k before i know it.

Not to be a nitpicker, but the airbox has to be the worst dollar to performance mod. At most you are gaining 5hp for a few hundred(or more depending on what you get).

Was your stock throttle screwed up?

Sprint booster makes the car worse, not better.

i felt the airbox was an okay mod, i did notice a change for the better and though it would have been nicer to get it earlier

I mentioned the throttle reset because it worked for me

Guys- these run flats do suck and I am going to replace them with lighter better wheels and tires- I'm thinking gforce rivals or azenis rt615s on some light kosei k4r wheels- are these wheels too shitty for a car this heavy? I want light- I don't want to spend five grand- bad idea?

You can get something like OZ or BBS or APEX among others that are lightweight for a fairly low price. I got my OZ for 500 used and sold my OEMs for 400.

Good wheels get two out of three:
1) light
2) cheap
3) strong

Choose your poison.

Bad wheels get one or none.

Is this the right manifold? I see the two DISA units, but for some reason this thing looks different from the others I've seen. What are those orange wires? Are they for the oil separator that comes off anyway? Are there supposed to be wires coming out of the DISA units? Incidentally, the 11-digit p/n listed on the sticker makes no sense; RealOEM can't find it as either a US or Euro p/n. On the plus side, it does say "N52 B30 OL," which is the designation for the high output N52. Supposedly this came off of a wrecked 2006 328i N51.
