Did anyone tried Meguiars Hot Rims Brake Dust Barrier so far?
Just wondering how it performs?

People don't want to believe it, because it's made by ArmorAll, but the ArmorAll Wheel Protectant works great.

I specifically use only Meguiar's except soft top products (RaggTopp). But what's wrong with ArmorAll? I probably won't get ArmorAll from now lol.
Does dust barrier product have any effects on the wheel, tire, or paint? Everytime I get a car wash, wheels get dirty after one drive and I might need to start using dust barrier from Meguiar's |

I use and love the AA stuff, but my soul would feel better if Meguiars or Chemical Bros would just reverse engineer the stuff and put their name on it. Hell, charge me double!

I washed my wheels and applied the Meguiar's BDB to the passenger side and will compare results and take some pictures in two weeks. I was a little apprehensive about it because it smelled and looked a lot like clear spray paint when it was going on...I think next time I apply it I will block off the brake components with some blue tape just for some extra comfort...

if you wash your car on a weekly basis, I don't see the need for wheel protectant against brake dust.
Then again it depends on how much you drive, and also how detailed(designed) your rims are... I would need pretty much 1/2 a can per application on all 4 wheels for it to do a good job. |

when I did use the AA product i found it to be a gimmick more than anything else. I'll admit I exaggerated a little, I didn't use that much when I did test run the product. But once again, I wash my car often enough that I don't need the added protection. Also given the detail in my OEM wheel (style 263) design it requires more of the product than a standard 5 spoke. Take wheel cleaner for example, If you wash your wheels regularly the brake dust and road grime will not "bake-on", hence no need for harsh chemicals to get them clean again. |

I use a product called RimWax on my wheels. I coated them once and the coating worked all summer. Just take a hose to them and everything washed off.
Very handy feature on my 12 spoke wheels |

I'm starting to think that your 128i pads might be less dusty than what the 135i has if you didn't see the value of the AA stuff. |

Bottom line; I don't like gimmicks, I'm my opinion AA is a gimmick. |

Does anyone know of any effective way to really get it off? I tried the rubbing alcohol recommendation the instructions label made.
Long story short, I applied it incorrectly not letting my wheels fully dry before spraying and now therefore I have a waxy looking film on my wheels. Wish I just stuck with my old usual methods of washing and waxing with what I know best. I try to stay away from the fairly new innovative products as letting this sort of thing happen would be of course with me until I actually had some prior good knowledge on how to use it! Lol.

I normally use 'wheelwax' brand wheel cleaner/sealant. Does a great job of keeping your wheels cleaner for longer.
