in your opinion, is the SMG better than the 6 speed?

It really depends on the driving situation. There are days I am thankful for having SMG and days where I wish I could row the gears myself.

Get SMG...

If you plan on taking the car to the track or autocross. The shifts are fast and precise. All you need to concentrate on is carving out that perfect line.

If your daily commute includes bumper to bumper traffic.


Get Manaul...

If you care less about speed/lap time and more about the overall interaction with the car.


So far SMG has been mechanically flawless. I drive exclusively in manual mode S5 or higher. The shifts in auto mode can be slow and jerky if you are not careful with the throttle. Overall I am pleased with the transmission.
