OT: Camera stuff for sale

Hi all,

Mods, please forgive me, I would like to give my Australian 1ADDICTS 2nd dibs on some camera gear I am selling before I advertise more widely.

I'll keep it brief: I have a Canon 40D, body only, that's only had around 600 shots taken. I'll throw in a 18-55 lens (non-IS) that I don't use any more and a spare Canon battery.

I also have a genuine Canon grip (BG-E2N) that's hardly been used, to suit a 40D, 30D or 20D. This is the 'new' better weather-sealed model.

If you're interested, send me a note. A good price for no hassle. All boxes, manuals etc available. I'm selling because I've upgraded from the 5D and am keeping the existing 5D as a spare to the new camera. The 40D was an insurance replacement to my 20D that was stolen.

If I'm breaking the rules, a thousand apologies and please delete!

Simon....

BBK, as per a PM I sent yesterday:

I'm thinking $1000 for the 40D including the 18-55 lens. It's a starter lens, but it's in good nick. I've now moved up to 'L' lenses, so don't use this one any more. No box for the lens, but all the 40D stuff is complete. I've used it some, but not extensively (around 600 shots on shutter), still in perfect condition.

I have a friend who may be interested in the 40D, so they will have first dibs.

I believe this is the lens (it's not here at the moment, in the drawer at work) and I bought it in 2005: http://photo.net/equipment/canon/efs18-55/

My LightRoom software tells me that I have 1875 photos with that lens, but that wouldn't have included those I deleted (not THAT many!).

No, the PM was to someone else .

You could always go the Nikon D3X, just finished reading the review on DPReview. Interesting. But, we won't get into that here, will we? Hehe...

This camera is really ideal for someone progressing up from a 20D or 30D, or a 350D or 450D (although it loses some features if you come from a 450D). I held a 450D the other day, and couldn't believe how much plastic there was!

I have never been a fan of the 350/450d cameras. Too plasticy. I have only used Pentax dSLR's as they have been (to me) the best value for money camera at the time I needed one.

I will have a look at my finances and see how we go, if not, good luck with the sale!

Agree about the 350/450's, can't stand them, but they're a good starter!

No problem, I don't have time to push harder around places at the moment, so it may take a few months to move it.

PS: Sapphire has 2 Pees ...
