Passenger Side Dash Board Squeaking
I have noticed recently my 1's passenger side dash board squeaking on a bumpy road. It squeaks when you push the dash board. Any one knows how to get rid of the squeaking noise?

Mine does this too. It's more of a pop than a squeak, but it is most noticeable when there are temperature differences between outside and inside the cabin (hot day, cool inside the car). I'm not in warranty anymore, so not a big concern for me.

I've experienced several rattles and squeaks in my vert and it seems that most are coming from the area where the A-pillar meets the dash. The A-pillar cover is hard plastic on the vert, so it makes it even worse. I stuck a piece of cardboard in the gap to see what happened and the squeaks completely disappeared. I think that a simple felt strip in that gap could solve it if that's your problem. Since my car is still under warranty I dropped it off at the dealer today and saved myself the trouble

Had same problem, took it into dealer and discovered SIB 514510 "instructions to lubricate mounting surface of dashboard and glove box" They also replaced my convertable top, SIB for that, my peeling steering wheel, and the drivers seat trim near release handle. Leather was separated from trim. Also changed the back brake pads.Didn't fix the seat problem, going in again next week. Car off of scheduled warranty in 2 weeks

This is not the pop with temp changes, but is a annoying squeak on bumpy roads. |

Try removing the A pillar trim and see if the noise goes away. It's very easy to remove and will confirm with certainty if it's the problem or not.

I had the same problem. They checked all the seals around the doors and replaced all the clips on my interior trim. Seems to have solved the problem. I only hear anything if I hit a really bumpy road.

The most common fix is lubricating the dashboard, to get rid of the loud click. Sometimes it is possible to do a DIY fix with silicon spray, but be careful as the A pillar trim is covered with cloth. Also the passenger side air vent can get noisy. These problems have been documented in other threads around here. They are not serious, but represent an annoyance. If you dealer is any good, they will dispatch these issues quickly.

It has been confirmed that the noise came from the area where the A-pillar meets the dash. I am going to spray some silicon into the gap and see if this get rid of the squeaking noise.

Does anyone have access to the SIB 514510 on lubricating the noises? What product is OEM approved would be useful. |
