Need Help: Does PPK1 affect how 135i sounds?

Hi guys. Been searching around for the right tune that allows me to keep the warranty, such as Dinan and BMW PPK. Dinan is really awesome thing with more money while I don't really about the PPK1 from BMW. Want to know something more about PPK itself guys. Those of you that ever try it please tell me how do you feel and overall satisfaction.

Many people said it affects how your car sounds after you install it even though you have stock exhaust, is it true? I'm not sure since I never really know about it and afterall we use the stock exhaust. How noticeable is the different between stock and using PPK1?

Just for your information, I'm mostly commute in city, specifically downtown area where I don't really need high end power but more to boost over low end. Do you guys recommend it to me? Also mine is '11 E82 135i which means it has N55 engine.

Please let me know guys about your experience. Appreciate any comments and opinions! Thank you guys

I got my MY12 N55 PPK'd soon after it arrived from Germany.

Small bump in power, a bit more torque and better throttle response - as many others have also reported.

Maybe there is a little more turbo noise due to the slight increase in boost, which was something I remember noticing. Also perhaps slightly louder on the exhaust note when on the gas, but not by very much compared to the stock N55.

Final note: I was mashing the pedal more after doing it as I wanted to see the difference more prominently, hence noise would have definitely increased!

Do you really like it? Yes yes, that's maybe why people said it is a bit louder even though we use stock exhaust. Is it worth it?

Definitely love it better than stock, I wouldn't go back. Sadly nowhere near the power and fun of the "real" tunes...

I think the only major change is the exhaust burble when you let off the gas. I have a DCT tranny and notice it most when you're in manual and sport mode.

That is very well put and exactly matches my experience with a 2012 DCT. A little more snarl in the burble....they must have added the slightest bit of fuel in the off throttle shift to get that effect.

They have a slight pop and crackle now on the overrun. Other than that you should not hear or notice any difference as it does not alter the exhaust system in any way.

My stock sound does make burble sounds when I'm in manual and do downshift. Okay, I'm just curious about it though since I'm quite sure that it doesn't sound to different since it has nothing to do with the exhaust system.

PPKv.2 increases engine noise, as in the EU, PPKv.2 + BMWPE exceeds the allowable noise limits and isn't allowed.

Stock N55 + the BMWPE on it's own is under this limit.

Well I got my car with the PPK and never drove a stock 1 before I bought mine. But I went back and drove a stock car and TO ME the difference is big. Throttle response is much better and YES I think it is a bit louder but not "rice" loud. I love the PPK and it really does bring the car to life. Plus you get a piece of mind by keeping the warranty.

I want my car to be loud, if I have ppk and PE will it make it LOUD? N55 engine is what I have with ppk currently so will the PE make a huge difference with ppk.

Not sure if you're implying that there could be some sound difference with the combined PPK and PE but will it make a huge difference? Yes.
Will you notice the PPK more with the exhaust? Very doubtful.
Will it be "LOUD?" Nope.

No manufacturer is going to put out an exhaust that is truly loud for the people that really want to be noticed. They are still mass producing street parts and have decibel limits that they must adhere to to keep everything copacetic. If you want loud you'll have to step up to catless DPs and likely a muffler delete option. Then you'll be shaking walls =)

If you want your car to be loud, get a downpipe and PE with Y-pipe.

If you're pushing more boost through the system you will get more noise even with all hardware remaining stock. More boost = more induction + more exhaust flow
