I heard a lot of good thing about the sport suspension. I had a chance to test drive one with and one without sport package, but I didn’t feel too much of a difference when I corner or accelerating up the ramp. At the end of the day, the $2000 price tag just a bit too much for me to get the sport seat. If I can get this without the package, I definitely would. |

a little off topic but i've never owned a stick shift car and i have learned on an 86 ford and more recently a mazda miata. I drove fine with the miata no stalls but I am a little worried about how I will handle the 128 I will order. Is stickshift easy on the 128/1 series in general? Even though 230 hp is much more than the aforementioned cars' will that be a big difference? My driving skills are pretty good, I enjoy driving my brother's g35 (auto) which has 280hp. Also I'm going to be doing ED if euro roads are harder/easier

Yes of course it's a joke...truth is if you are a driver that is really about driving you would only buy a 6MT, sorry that's the truth. If your someone that sits in traffic allot and can't stand the thought of shifting so much you'll get the auto.
Really why else would you buy an auto, you want to relax in your car and not have to work to hard. I'm not judging it's just the truth. I'm the only person I can think of in my family who has a manual, why because they don't care about driving it's about getting from A to B in comfort. |

I guess you have to concern other driver if there is any. If your girl friend or brother who doesn't know how to drive manual will frequently use the car, you will have to spend some extra money to ensure the car is available for them as well.
I chose 6MT and I am the only one who has MT in my family member. Since nobody drives MT not even my brother, the car is exclusive to me which I like very much! ^0^ Second thought was though, if the car was AT, my girlfriend would have driven it. Well now it comes down to one question, do you love your girl friend more than your 128? lol |

The answer to that is that I love my S/O enough to teach her how to drive 6MT in my 135i. My opinion has always been that if you can't drive a manual you should not be allowed to drive at all, all tests should be done in a manual car.

Agreed - and the 1-series is dead easy to drive, so there's really no excuse. Unfortunately my wife loves to drive manual, so it's a constant struggle everytime we decide to go somewhere.

But we're obviously in the minority, as my SA said that about 80% of the 1-series inventory that comes into BMW Toronto has an auto transmission.
