TPMS question.

I just got my 12 135i and want to get the CCW, my question is can i run aftermarket wheels without TPMS? I am planing to get a new set of wheels and tires and just sell my complete stock as a package. I know on my old vette i just need to hit clear the message everytime i get in the car and it didnt bother me much. Thanks

You will need new TPMS for your new wheels. There are two versions for the TPMS, your car has the later versions. Early ones were used up too 2011 M.Y.(split).

Without new TPMS the dashboard light will always stay on.

Just to clarify - all cars MY2008 to mid-MY2011 use the same TPMS? I was under the impression there was a change somewhere during that time period (in addition to the one in mid-MY2011). Thanks.

Cars built after Sept 2010 (model year 2011) have the new-er TPMS. All earlier built cars use the 433Mhz sensors. But IF your car is built after Sept, 2010 - you will need the new-er sensors.

You can disable TPMS by coding it (check out the coding forum on e90post.com). That's what I did. No light, ever.

That is right. You can also code the European TPMS system that uses the car's ABS sensors instead of TPMS sensors inside the wheels/valve stems. I think that is a much better way to go.

Thanks. Mine is a July 2010 build, right before the switchover.

That sucks, I just bought one and the build date is November 2010. I might tough it out for the 2-3 weeks they will be on the car until next year... lol
