Clay Bar Preference?
Anyone have a favorite? I've used 3M Perfect It in the past which is a great pro-grade bar, but it comes with a pro-grade price ($35). Anyone tried anything else that's a bit cheaper? Maybe the Mother's California Gold, which includes a spray lubricant/detailing mist for $20?

I have used the Mequires clay bar smooth surface kit and it worked fine. I don't have anything to compare it too! I good friend (severe detailing freek!) swears by Griot's stuff and he says their clay is awesome.

I've used Griots and Zaino clay bars, and they're very similar. I was happy with both. You'll get twice as much from Griots for roughly the same price, though (8 oz for $20 versus 4 oz for $17).

+1 on the Sonus Green. It is not heavy duty, but won't strip off wax or sealant. If I need more oomph, I go to the local auto parts store and get some Clay Magic blue. But, I know I'll have to wax again.
I've heard about the Riccardo, but have not tried it. It doesn't seem too readily available. |

I've used Zaino and Mothers clay bars and they seem to be nearly identical. The biggest different I've found is the lube that's used in conjunction with the clay. I REALLY liked Zaino's method of using their car wash as lubricant. It goes a long way and stays wet/slick longer than the others that I've used.
