128i short shift lever

I'm gonna order myself some Christmas presents and I just wanna make sure i got the right stuff. I don't really care for the alcantara boot or the silver shift knob (I like the ZHP one better) so I'm just ordering the short shift lever.

Is this all I need?

I was probably gonna combine these with the E46 M3 trans bushing to maximize the shifter precision.

Yup, those are the 3 pieces I used. I wanted to retain the stock look and reused the knob and boot. Works great. One of those "should have done it sooner" things. I'd already done the M3 trans. mount. Didn't really notice much difference there. There's a very slight vibration you'll feel at idle, a little more with the A/C on, but not enough to annoy. I've heard that the more you torque the mounts, the more vibration. I think I used about 15lbs and the recommended torque range I was seeing was something like 14-19lbs which isn't a lot. You might want to check those figures for yourself as it was a while ago. Anyhow, worthwhile upgrades. Warning : It never ends.

The stock knob looks nice, but compared to the ZHP it feels like the cheezy piece of plastic it is. I did the ZHP on the 128 about a month after I bought the car. The throws with the stock knob are shorter than the other BMWs I own/owned. I gave it a try, but the ZHP is just better.

When I sold my E46 convertible I mistakenly left the ZHP on during the test drive. The buyer made it part of the deal.

The lighted knob from my M Roadster is on a shelf - ZHP from my E36 M3 is on the roadster. First time shame on me...

The wood knob from my E39 540 6M was off the day I brought the car home (seller told me to store it in my garage while the check cleared) and a ZHP was on the car before I got the title. I sold that car to a friend, so I let him have the ZHP.

Do you see a pattern?

Thanks guys! I ordered the short shifter for now, and I plan on getting the ZHP knob with some more cash I'll be getting around Christmas. Just bled my clutch pedal too (the fluid was piss yellow ) so my shifting should be lightning precise.
