135i lifting jack

I know that our 1 series don't have a lifting jack included in the trunk because of the use of run flats. I still want to use one if I have to remove the tires for some brake work. Can I use the lifting jack that came with the same year 3 series?? Thanks for the info.

The MB C300 jack is also an option and readily available on eBay

Also any scissors jack will work. Bav Auto sell one but you could likely go to a junk yard-they likely would have many available. This jack would go to the cars jack pad located at the 4 corners of the car, same place a garages hoist lifts the car.

I've had the 2 ton Low Profile/Long Reach version of that jack for years now and it's excellent. Heavy, but a great jack. The long reach part is worth it's weight in gold (which is a lot.... ), makes jacking from the rear diff much easier as well as getting you several inches more jacking height, from 2 3/8" up to 23 3/4" at full height. I run it up to almost full height fairly often, makes working with jackstands & such much easier.

Great for the garage, but I'd never in a million years take it with me unless I needed it at the track. Daily road use you want a basic scissor jack and a AAA card.

Putting the "shade" in shade tree mechanic....

The BMW jack is designed to fit into the jacking points. A scissor jack is a bad idea unless you use a jack pad at the jacking points.

For working on the car in your garage, you need to buy a jack pad. Then a sturdy light weight floor jack can be bought for around $60 from Harbor Freight.

If you want to do work at your house buy a jack at Sears or Harbor Freight. If you want one for the road, check out the spare tire sticky. http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1145886 There are pictures of different solutions. I put one of my winter tires in the car and bought a 5 series kit off of ebay that fits in the wheel.

I also have a few other cars, so the loss of most of the trunk isn't a big issue. Plus I like the Styrofoam insert.

I wouldn't do brake work with the factory scissor jack. Too damn dangerous. This past weekend Sears had a nice 3 ton (looked just like the 19.5 height 3 ton I bought from Harbor Freight with a super coupon for $80 the day before - Need the extra height for her SUV, I have three other low profile jacks) with a pair of jack stands for $99.XX. Grab a hockey puck, and jack stands, and have fun.

25% coupons don't work on jacks. Ask me how I know! Pretty sure its the same for the 20% coupons. Gotta get the microscope out to read the fine print.

I joined their email newsletter and was emailed a flyer with an updated 20% off code for the 3 ton jack.

I love my costco red floor jack. Fits under the car flawlessly and picks up the car with no effort.

In the last month three flyers came in the mail. I just bought one a week ago Thursday with the coupon in one of the flyers for $80.The other flyer had a coupon for $85.

Last weekend Sears had what looked like the identical jack (black instead of stone gray) with two jack stands on sale for $100. If the OP doesn't have jack stands I would go for sears. I already have six in the garage.

I saved an extra $1.25 using the 20% off and a coupon on an impact wrench.

×&&#&$3 those plastic jack points. They're cheap and easy to replace. Even if you shell (more than they cost) for the jack pads to protect the cruddy little pieces of plastic, you'll only bung them up with your jackstands...

Takes just a moment to modify your jack stands to fit perfectly, and the modified version is safer since they have solid points of contact.

I used a grinder with a cut-off wheel, and then a quick shot of paint to prevent rust, easy-peasy.

Not mine, but these were cut the same as mine.
