OP, my wife occasionally reminds me how much she liked the 04 GTO 6M. Sold it to a friends son. Afraid to ask where it is now.
If I still have it by then, hit me up. I'll let it go dirt cheap
Cosmetically it's not mint but mechanically it's amazing (has service records).

Incorrect. It's a zero cost option.

For what it's worth, 2012's with ~65k miles are running through the auction on average around $15k according to Manheim. I would post a screen shot but I'm on my phone. Typically dealer will give you a trade in "allowance", which is basically just showing you a higher number for your car, but it's just coming out of the profit on the car they're selling you.

I thought about selling my 2011 128i in order to get one of the first 1000 limited launch edition MX5 when they launched the ND and had a friend of mine who trade cars look for me for selling it. Bottom line every avenues he explored were disappointing as it is simply hard to sell a RWD 128i with a manual transmission here. Demand drives everything and it is so low that most dealers are simply not interested and know it will go to auction. They all offered significantly less than KBB (trade in value), by then it was about 12K (the car was about 5 years). I pampered my car since it was new, I still enjoy to drive it everyday, just the thought of it makes me smile every morning before I hit the road (I also happen to have a nice commute through country roads), so I decided to keep as it is way more to me than just 12k. I will probably buy a ND Miata as a third car in a few years in addition to the 1er. To celebrate that decision, I finally bought the BMW Performance exhaust the car needed so badly

Feel the same about my car. Worth way more to me than the dollar figure. Enjoy that Performance exhaust. It'll make your drive that much more fun.

You don't want to get rid of it now anyway. You will want to get rid of it in about a year and a half to two years, when my kid gets her license and it is worth about 6k. I don't feel like going out of state to find one.

I had an RX-7 convertible and a NB. My neighbor had a 95 M edition (the one with no headrest speakers) with about 50K on it. He traded it in for an early ND. He drove the ND until last weeks snow, and I expect it to come out in a week or so. His C2 convertible, like my M roadster doesn't leave the garage.

Oh and buying used is far better than new when it comes to cars.

For the record the trade in-in value for cars is better than wives. Buy right once, no need to trade her in. Just say'n

If the terms hold up and the dealership honors what they've been telling me over the last few days, I'm gonna say goodbye to my 135i tonight.

I love the car, but I'm officially sick of all these repairs. With the amount of things that have gone wrong with this car, I could've bought a M3 instead
Have you looked at the Jaguar F-pace? It's their version of a sporty SUV. Pretty nice cars.

Did you say yours is a 2012 135is? Have you tried selling it on the forum?

I test drove the f pace. Very sharp car. Lots of power on all trims and exhaust note is money.

Ended up keeping the 135i. Going to try and sell it private party. Did end up leasing a QX30 for $0 down and $295 a month though, so can't complain

The dealershit makes money on every transaction. On the car you buy. on the car you trade. on the service you get. on the parts you buy. they have to. they have enormous overheads to cover. you can sort of break even if you buy at a reasonable price and keep the car for several years and keep the maintenance costs down. but the unfortunate thing is that many owners/leasors have no idea what they are really paying, or whether they got a good deal or not.

Incorrect. It's a zero cost option.
Yea I read a little on them. 30 minute quote, good for 7 days and you don't have to buy a car from them. I'll see what they can offer later this year.

The manual option is in reference to some cars, like an 02 Camaro SS, the manual options was -$XXX. But other vehicles do have the $0 option for the manual, which I believe the 04-06 GTO did.

I think the manual was a $0 option on my 04 GTO. But the auto cost more. It had the gas guzzler tax. I may have a scan of the window sticker somewhere.

If that car didn't have an electric passenger seat I may sill have it. Too damn slow on a rainy day with a baby seat in the back.

I looked at my 06 M6 GTO window sticker and it was a $695 option then I found an image for an 06 GTO A4 and it was was $0, not including the gas guzzler tax. Could have sworn the M6 option was an $0 option but oh well.

By the way, you should have upgraded to an 05-06 GTO....they had "faster" seats!

I got my 04 M6 during the crazy clearance 12/11/04. GM card gave crazy bonus money back in addition to the GM card earnings, then there was the rebates. I did a smart buy (no leases in NY during that period). I think I paid about $20k for the car. I posted the details on the red GTO board back then. I bought the car and a few weeks later got a check from the GM card for $3,000 because the GM card bonus was not applied.

I didn't like the look of the 05-06 "improvements", I took the spoiler off a few weeks after I got the car and plugged the holes. I bought a set of near new winter tires on knock off BMW M3 Contours. Had a shop make me 72mm decals with "GTO" for the center caps. The car looked nice with those wheels. I have a picture somewhere. My neighbor who had an 850 couldn't believe it wasn't a BMW. I was very impressed with the handling for such a big boat. I sold my 40k mile 93 Z28 6M (I had one of the oddballs from the factory with a Viper transmission) with more than a SS suspension, and some other mods because the GTO out of the box took turns faster, and was more comfortable.

I think out the door they were about the same price. 06 had the $695 for the manual, and the gas guzzler tax on the auto was about the same. If not for the horribly long throws of the shifter (and no easy fix like a ZHP knob)... The trunk was the perfect size for a pizza, my wife liked that the grocery bags fit just right.

Some of you have mentioned getting lousy a response or crappy offers from the dealer for your manual trans E82.

Post it for sale here! There are guys on the board dying to find a manual transmission 128i or 135i. You'll get more from a private party sale than a dealer offer anyway.

This sounds like a good idea. You'll be selling it to other enthusiasts who will appreciate it. Plus, you get to keep it in the family (family of 1ADDICTS).

Maybe you should put it in the "For Sale / Want-to-buy / For Trade" section (if you haven't already) and see if anybody's interested.

+1. As was said earlier, it's a business. The dealer makes profit on everything, and in order for them to sell at market price, you're going to get offered several thousand below that.
