Question for those w/ Clear Bras

So here's my problem, I had a professional installer apply a 3M clear bra to my 135i last week and ever since my Mirrors have a terrible wind wistle at 60MPH and above. I know it's the bra because if I stick my hand out the window and cover the inside of the mirror the noise goes away. Anyone else have this ?????

Are the mirrors only partially covered? My mirror covers were removed and totally wrapped.

The 3M kit came pre-cut and it does not wrap entirely around the mirror, our next step is to completely cover the mriror and hot this solves the problem.

I have the same problem. My passenger mirror is OK, no whistle sound... However my drivers mirror whistles bad... I'm about ready to rip the clear bra off it.

My installer used two pieces for each mirror... there appears to be a small gap on my drivers mirror which is causing the whistle.

Spoke with my installer the other day and he will be happy to remove the old two piece design and warp it with one solid piece all the way around the mirror. I'll let you know if this cures it.

The installer is coming to work on my dad's new C6 on Thurs of this week, and at that time he will remove the old bra from my mirrors and install a new custom piece to cover the entire mirror. I'll let you know how it works out.

I had my mirrors clear bra'd, it was the 2 piece pre-cut kit. Haven't noticed a whistle yet *knock on wood*.

Mine are two piece and seem to be OK, but then my hearing is not what it used to be.

All - my car is due next week, a couple questions:
- what are you paying for: front hood/bumper, mirrors and rear bumper (I park in city) ; and
- did you find differences in price going direct to provider vs dealer

I have the mirror whistle too . . .

I had a front end kit installed, using Xpel product. Good stuff, btw. I can hardly see it even up close. I had only the nose clip, headlights and mirrors done - I don't like the line on the hood and didn't want to pay to cover the whole hood. I love my 135, but the extra money I saved by not doing the hood paid for most of my Garmin...

Anyway, both mirrors were done with a two-piece kit. The driver's side has a noticeable gap, maybe 1/2 to 1 millimeter between the two pieces. It whistles from around 45 or 50 MPH up.

My passenger side mirror has very little gap and does not whistle.

So, there's no doubt, it's that little gap between the protective film pieces that causes the whistle. Get rid of the gap, get rid of the whistle.

I'll be having the driver's side redone, either with a one-piece kit or w/ no gap between the pieces. I'll post and update when it's done.

I spent the past weekend studying this problem and I think JD has it right. I just called my installer to come back out and try this again as the whistling noise is driving me bananas. I have 3M and the installer is the same guy who installed OP's clear bra.

Please keep us posted, my guy came back and added a piece but it's still there. I'm about ready to remove the whole kit from the mirrors I also have the 3M kit.

Albert from Block a Chip is coming to my house this Saturday (that is the same guy that did yours, right?) I will let you know if he is able to come up with a fix. if not, I am taking mine off also because the noise is really irritating.
