Sport Seats without Sport Pack
I really want to get the sports seats that people rave about, but I can't stand the idea of having the M Steering Wheel and shifter (I just don't like the extra chunky steering wheel, and M badges on a non-M car), and I've grown accustomed to the chrome trim (instead of shadowline). Right now, i'm reserved to the idea that i may have to swap the regular seats out for sport seats after delivery. Does anyone know how much that might cost, or if there is a better way to get the sports seats in this case?

You may be better off ordering ZSP for the seats, then selling off the pieces you don't like to willing buyers. Another thought would be checking e90post.com for 335 owners installing after market seats, I've heard the sport seats are idendentical, and buying the take off seats.

See I would do that, but I think replacing the Shadowline trim would be most difficult. I don't want the M Steering wheel, or shifter, or trim, and I doubt i'll be going over 130 mph, so the only variable are the seats. I can live without the sport seats for a short period of time. This sport pack really is just fluff except for the seats, seems like a real waste.

:eyebulge: really for the money of the sports package it's a great bargain, steering wheel, shift kbnob, speed limiter increase, shodow line trim and seats are worth way more than the asking price.... it's a deal, it's a steal, shit man it's sale of the fuckin century when it comes to the ZSP package. well worth the loot IMHO |

Driving new BMW's every day I can say that you're seriously shorting yourself without the thicker grip wheel.
I will drive a 328 ZSP over a 335i without it EVERY TIME. |

Ty, why do you find the thicker wheel preferable?
I'm kind of the same frame of mind - wish they wouldn't bundle all the fluff with the better seats. I was seriously on the fence between the sport package and aftermarket Recaro seats. I think an M-knob is a detriment, not a benefit, and kind of feel the same for the 'M-wheel'. I guess I just don't like pretentious ornaments. |

not to beat a dead horse, BUT, for 1,000 bucks ZSP is the most worth it package that BMW offers, maybe even any car company offers. I dont understand how anyone would not order the package???

Ty, I remember you from your E36 M3 days over at bf.c -- welcome.
Sorry for the OT, OP. Since you are a CA could you resolve the U.S. oil cooler question for us here. Will it be ZSP only, MT only, or do all 135i get it?

I'm actually not a CA but I have a DCS login and can get all the same info. Unfortunately we haven't got any solid info on the oil cooler yet. We recently had a problem with a client who ordered a 335xi coupe 6MT non-ZSP and it was a big mess when he wanted Dinan software. |

IMO, by the way BMW ended up configuring the 135i, the $1000 ZSP option is the worst Sports Package that BMW has ever offered in any vehicle, as the sport suspension and the 18" wheels are already standard. The M steering wheel, the knob and the shadowline should be standard, after all 95% of the M Pack is standard in this sucker; at least in the 328i you get 18" wheels and the sport seats for the same $1000. I still don't see any value on this package compared to other BMW model's ZSP, other than removing standard equipment off the car to get at the most $500 extra in options... |

If you've ever sat in the regular seats compared to the sport seats, it's a must have. The non-sports are slabs. I loathe them. I could care less about the ///M logos on the other pieces, but I like the fatter perforated leather on the steering wheel, and perf leather on the shifter knob.
I don't the package is a great value compared to the 328i's sport package at the same cost, but I can't ever see not getting the package. |

Also, the top speed limit isn't raised with the sports package anymore. According to the specs, 150 mph is the top speed for all versions of the 135i. So its just M shifter, M steering wheel, sport seats, and shadowline trim for 1k. In britain, on the 123d, the shadowline trim is 70 quid and the sport seats are 390 quid. You're practically paying a full 2:1 exchange rate on the pound to dollar for this package, which isn't the case for the car or any of the other options. I'd say on this basis alone, this is the "most overpriced/least value for money" option on the 1 series.

Chocolate and vanilla, dude. It all comes down to subjective value preference. I see you, like me, are paying $500 for the privilege of not having to bother fiddling with the key fob. It would be easy to make a case against Comfort Access, just like ZSP, but obviously many of us think it's worth it. :iono:

Maybe not a bargain
but you can't get those sports seats anywhere else for $1000 for the pair. The standard seats are flat slip and slide jobs. If you drive this car like Ma and Pa Kettle, the standards are right up your alley. If you drive it the way it was designed to be driven you'll kick yourself for not getting them. So, while not a bargain when compared to the 128i or 328i, you can't afford not to get them.

Showing your age there 'gocal73' with that "Ma and Pa Kettle" reference. ; -)
For those who don't know about Ma & Pa Kettle, I'd like to hijack this a bit and let them explain the calculations for profits on a 1er equipped with ZSP: |
