New member! Picked up my 08 135i!!

hey guys, its been about two weeks since I traded in my old car for an 08 jet black 135i. It's been a pretty crazy two weeks since then, I've already had to get the HPFP replaced from bmw. I'm hoping to throw on a few mods within the next few weeks, any suggestions?

here are a few pics..

If it still has them, ditch the runflats, you'll be glad you did. Also get Dinan Stage 2 ECU flash. Cost more than Juice Box but it wont void the BMW warranty. The 384 horsepower at 5700 rpm and 421 lb-ft torque at 4300 rpm is one hell of an upgrade. (increases the Turbo pressure from 8.8 to 13.0 PSI)

Thanks for the compliments!

As far as options go, she has coral red interior, comfort access system, power/heated front seats, ipod/usb adaptor, and gray poplar wood trim. I'd like to replace the trim with carbon but bmw's prices are a bit ridiculous.

The first time i looked at this thread there were no pics attached, I'm glad you got them up. Your car looks beautiful, nice and shiny! Just a question, why no sports package? Any particular reason, or did you buy it off the lot without it?

you have pretty much the same trim/colors setup as me, so in terms of your mods question, other than the almost requisite JB+/BMS DCI/BavTec Scanner upgrades, I think fmxomar's custom splitters looks AWESOME with black cars (less so with other colors, but thats just my opinion), i have a couple pics in my last posted thread plus in my "garage" thing. oh yeah, a carbon fiber spoiler and mirror caps are also great cosmetic additions.

generally, in terms of modding it depends on what you're looking for. are you trying to upgrade your speed outright? in that case a JB (JB2, JB3, or JB+) are hard to beat. Your sound? A BMS dual cone intake will have you easily hearing your turbo's whine like crazy even from like 2k RPM's for just 130 bucks, plus let your JB breathe better, while a simple axleback exhaust from Berk, Maddad, or Afe will be below 600 bucks and improve your sound 100%. Want better handling? New springs, or as a cheaper option, even just a better front swaybar like the one from Hotchkis, will dramatically improve body roll and confidence in turns. Cosmetically, carbon fiber parts, tinting, and new Corona ring light bulbs (H8 halogens for 20 bucks or the more expensive LED options) will make your car stand out without it being tacky, on top of the afore-mentioned splitters. One of the best "mods" though is moving up from the stock tires. The run flats BMW gives you are expensive to replace, and they aren't that great to begin with in terms of performance. Rims are also one of the most noticeable upgrades on a car, but I personally love the stock rims on my 135i.. I think it's just me though as at least half the board members have replaced them. I think black or gunmetal rims would look great though and also cover up the brake dust nicely (covering brake dust and making my life easier has been te only reason i've considered replacing the rims haha) That's just my 2 cents though, it's your car so you should customize it how you want!

Congrats on the car, and welcome! BTW what was your old car? I don't think you've mentioned it..

I'm in Leesburg. Maybe I'll see you on the road sometime! I haven't seen too many 1ers out here, although I have seen one that looks exactly like mine - a jet black 135i convertible with a black top. Ugh! Saw a black 128i coupe parked at the Regal Cinema in Sterling yesterday, though. Of course, there are 3's, 5's, and 7's everywhere you look out here!

thanks for the suggestions. I bought the car off the lot without the sports package, but got a great deal on it. I used to drive an 04 mazda rx8 before the 1 and gotta say it was quite the upgrade.

Congrats on the new ride, looks great! Having the HPFP replaced within 2 weeks is idiotic. BMW really needs to address this issue, that is unacceptable.

BMW and Dinan's relationship has gone south. And even before that, Dinan replaces the warranty on the car with it's own.

So any further advice on the Dinan Stage 2 ECU flash? Still happy with it? Any impact on your mileage?
