I just got a call from an east coast dealer wanting to take my ED order at invoice pricing.
He didnt seem to have an issue with allocation or ED pricing, but I already have my order with a local dealership. My CA said ED can be confirmed at 6 months prior to pick up date, so I should have a production number in march. |

Do you know for certain that two are from AZ, both with Production Numbers?

This is the issue, the first allocations are for March production not April or October as some have claimed. According to the BMW Rep only numbers for March have been allotted at this point. No way has BMW allotted cars out to October at this point.

Anyone can claim on this forum that they have a September or October car or have secured an ED discount for next Christmas but unless you have a production number and later a VIN number you don't have the car.

I just heard from my CA. They're not a huge dealership, but they move a ton of ///Ms... they are getting 1 allocation for the year, and it ain't mine.
What a total & complete cluster-f. |

I have a hard time believing any single dealer knows how many they will get over the course of the entire year. |

So if they state we are getting "X" allocated (insert fave number here), they are...misrepresenting?

I see. So per the BMW blanket statement, it may go up or down depending on production and the dealer is in actuality really beging frank and gshowing you the hand he has currently been dealt?
But one thing I don't get is, allocations are generally for what: 30/60 days ahead? So how can they make a statement that they know what they have been allocated for the rest of 2011?

I wish that I has the information to answer that. All that I know is that two weeks ago my CA told me that his dealership was getting 3 allocations, he didn't specify over what period of time. My CA has always been honest with me, so that info had to have come from some where. The assumption has become that it will be a flexible allocation and BMW will adjust it month-to-month based upon demand and the orders in the order bank.

At best, this wishy-washy variable allocation is confusing the hell out of people, customers & dealers alike.
At worst, 1Ms really will be this scarce, and they've managed to piss off many enthusiasts who've been eagerly following the development of this car, and who've had futile deposits in place for weeks or months. If anyone from BMW or BMWNA is following this, some clarification on the allocation process & availability is in order immediately. |
