Not sure if it is a direct 'swap' for the 1 ///M as it will have the M button (which of course neither the Z4 3.5is nor the 335is have) and various other things may need to be taken into consideration (arguably better cooling, or other alterations in the 1 ///M relative to the 335is).

Better ask Terry directly, but if I had to venture a guess I'd say there will be a JB4 1/// M version (prolly same hardware, just different mappings/algortihms/alterations). Ditto for Procede. I would think the revisions these tuners need to do would justify the cost even with a relatively small production base.

My hope is that COBB will offer something as well. Dinan is a given.

It is a direct swap. Map 5 will work with the 1M.

Well, while it may be used as a direct swap, we don't really know if it is the 'appropriate' one to use. Sure, Map 5 will 'work' as you say, but has it been optimized for the 1 ///M? No.

The truth is all this is speculation until the tuners get their hands on the actual full software off the 1 ///M. Have Terry, or Shiv, or others actually seen the full software that is in the ///M? I personally have not seen anybody opine conclusively on this from the tuner community, but then again, I am not on every board, so maybe I've missed it.

It is an auto-tuning, self-adjusting map. So, yes, it is optimized.

Well, I didn't write the code.

That being said, I would actually rather go with Cobb IF they can provide a map with the same gains as the 135i maps.

But you made the statement

Or is it Terry that made that statement, and hence is the one telling us it is a direct swap and there is nothing unique that would be required for the 1 ///M? Just wanna know, don't get me wrong would be great if you can just take your existing JB4 and throw it in the 1 ///M. But just wondering if this is what people 'think' is the case, or is the tuner himself gone on record as stating that?

Yes, I suppose I did. On N54Tech, Terry was asked if the JB4 would be compatible with the N54 in the 1M. He said on Map 5, "yes".

OK, thx for clarifying, was not trying to be argumentative, just to see if indeed the tuners have actually gotten their hands on the stock 1 ///M software and can definitively say it is a direct swap.

Time to upgrade my JB3 to JB4, coincides with my upcoming dealer service visit, how handy!

I am glad that you didn't ask what Map 5 does. Wouldn't have been able to provide any input there. N54Tech has a bunch of engineers talking about shit I don't understand.

I am not sure how Terry knows it will work, but he is confident that it will. If you email him, he will answer any questions.
