OK, do you drive with or without rear headrests installed?

I removed mine when I had the tint installed and left them removed because it's easier to see.

Do you drive with or without rear headrests installed? Thanks

I took them out to improve visibility. If they fold down I couldn't figure out how to do it.

The large fat ones don't fold down, the eurospec ones do. I thought about getting euro ones, but I dont really use the back seat for passengers, so driving with them removed works fine.

lol. this reminds me of my dad's old mercedes 300CE. I don't know of mercedes still does this, but they actually had a button you could press up on the front dash to release the rear headsets and make them fold down automatically. It was great fun when I was a kid. This wasn't a very elegant folding btw.. they dropped down backwards with a thud.

Because touch wood if u got into a crash the headrest will keep yr neck from snaping in 2 piece.....dueing the crash yr head will throw forward then backward right after the crash...so without the headrest yr neck will take all of the force since yr shouder is locked by the seat...

OP was clearly talking of the rear headrests.... i'm sure NO ONE can drive while sitting in the rear seats !:wink:

but your passengers could suffer, and just for a minor improvement in visibility... not worth it in the slightest IMO. Adjust your mirrors.

Let's clear this up...

If there is a rear passenger, then there should be a rear headrest in place. Period. Without it, an accident could cause serious injury to that rear passenger. In addition, the driver could potentially expose himself to significant liability, and face serious legal consequences in the event of rear passenger injury due to the lack of a headrest.

If there are no rear passengers, then it is perfectly acceptable to remove the rear headrests.

Recent improvements to headrest safety have made some of them responsive to impact, particularly for front passengers... however, I don't believe the 1er has any of those advanced headrest safety features yet.
